Pacers have considered offer sheet, but prefer to make a trade for Augustine. As @DraftExpress reports, Indy traded Darren Collison to Mavs.

Only excited if we are swapping Hansbrough for him. That would probably **** Bobcats fans off, it would be like the Pacers trading Haywoode Workman for Steve Alford just because.

I can completely see this happening. With the trade for Mahinmi, that means Plumlee will be playing back up PF. Which makes Tyler expendable. And we need a back up PG, so in comes Augustine.

It would slightly make up for the Mahinmi trade if this is straight Hansbrough for Augustin with a reasonable salary.

Don't get me wrong, I like DJ, but he is VERY similar to Hill. A PG who is a decent shooter and scorer, but not a great distributor. I would prefer a guy like Calderon who can shoot and distribute before DJ.

What are you guys talking about? Augustin can dish, he's a very good playmaker. He just didn't have very good players to pass to in Charlotte. And it's easier to tell him, "go out there, distribute, pass, be a point guard" than it apparently is to do the same with DC.

Look at his free throw % and three point %. He stretches the defense and creates driving lanes.

He played on the worst team ever and found himself with the ball at the end of the shotclock quite a bit and thus took some terrible % shots. Don't get too caught up in his overall percentage. It is a bit misleading.

I have attended more Bobcats games that I would like to admit. I've seen DJ play a lot since he's been in the NBA.

He is a dangerous 3pt shooter and has proven capable of knocking down clutch outside shots. He doesn't have good shot selection, and that is reflected in his overall FG%. He is a major liability on defense. He has a history of pouting if he isn't a starter.

You guys wanted a play-making point guard? Well with Nash off the board D.J Augustin is the next best thing that is available. He ranked 8th in the league last year in assist percent among qualified players (38.9%). Here are the top 20 players in assist percent for last season (along with Darren Collison and George Hill):

    Assist Pct
    1. Steve Nash-PHO-------53.1
    2. Rajon Rondo-BOS------52.5
    3. Deron Williams-NJN-----46.6
    4. Jose Calderon-TOR-----44.2
    5. Chris Paul-LAC---------43.8
    6. Tony Parker-SAS-------40.3
    7. Derrick Rose-CHI-------40.3
    8. D.J. Augustin-CHA----38.9
    9. Ricky Rubio-MIN--------37.4
    10. John Wall-WAS--------36.9
    11. Kyrie Irving-CLE-------36.5
    12. Andre Miller-DEN------36.5
    13. Greivis Vasquez-NOH--35.7
    14. Ramon Sessions-TOT--35.5
    15. Jarrett Jack-NOH------34.0
    16. Jameer Nelson-ORL----34.0
    17. LeBron James-MIA----33.6
    18. Raymond Felton-POR--33.3
    19. Goran Dragic-HOU-----32.5
    20. Kyle Lowry-HOU-------32.3
    58. Daren Collison-IND--24.9
    108. George Hill-IND----18.8

Here is a link to the chart. It shows him as 11th on it because it includes unqualified players. Amongst qualified players he is 8th.

He also was 13th in the NBA in assist/turnover ratio (2.79).

Here are the top 20 players in the league for assist/turnover ratio (with DC and Hill again):

    1. Jose Calderon-TOR--------4.5
    2. Chris Paul-LAC------------4.38
    3. Mike Conley-MEM----------3.23
    4. Rajon Rondo-BOS----------3.21

    6. Nate Robinson-GSW-------3.08
    7. Tony Parker-SAS----------3.03
    8. Andre Iguodala-PHI--------2.95
    8. Beno Udrih-MIL------------2.95
    10. Jason Kidd-DAL-----------2.9

Like Shabazz, I have been to plenty of Bobcat games. They are the closest NBA team to me. That is a pretty good assessment he gave. That 6.4 number is an externality. His career average is like 4.5 a game. If you are thinking he is a distributor you are going to be dissapointed.

You seem to be overlooking the fact that that 3rdStrike mentioned he shot "39% the year before that" which refers to the season Charlotte went to the playoffs. You can't write off every aspect of Augustin's career as being the product of one single strike shortened season.
