With the #3 pick in the 2015 draft, your Indiana Pacers!
Go to the bottom of the page (similar threads) and see the trade proposal thread I made a while back....interesting.
Here's what I really don't get about this whole thing: The sales pitch to the fan base after they drafted Plumlee was that he was a backup to Roy. Now they trade for Mahinmi to do the same thing. Explain.
Well... I'm sold.
I picked a bad day to quit smoking
So there was no pick involved, not even a 2nd? Dahntay was not even that bad, he played good D and occasionally hit shots, he also had a expiring contract, him and DC. It would not be bad if Ian was even decent, I think this thought of "being physical" is going too much to the Pacers head. I really am not comfortable with what management is doing, also they gave him a 4 year deal, I wonder how much is guaranteed?
Why so SERIOUS
Yeah, I'm sure they put no thought into this at all. Come on guys!
We traded a guy that hardly saw the floor, and when he did, he was crucified on this board for how horrible he was, along with a player that would be gone next year anyway. In return, we got a young athletic big to be Roy's backup, cap space to sign Gerald Green and might grab DJ for Tyler.
Mahinmi > Tyler
Green > DJones
DJ > DC
Looks good to me!!
I'm intrigued by Mahimi, and I LOVE the fact that our bench got bigger and finally added some sort of shotblocking capacity. It doesn't hurt that he apparently is athletic aswell. Truth be told I don't know him all that well. 4mln a year for a backup C/PF is something I can certainly live with if he brings what I hope he brings. I can't help but wonder how in the hell we didn't get something like a 2nd rounder out of this deal though. Not that Darren was an all-star, but I would have thought his trade value for an UFA would have been a bit higher.
Adding Green is ok I guess. Adds another guy who can actually score the ball together with DJ for our bench, which was another one of out weakpoints during the postseason, but will also help us a lot during the regular season.
Regarding DJ... he's on my fantasy team, but I remember him missing a decent amount of games this year. Is health/longevity something to be a little worried about? I like that we added a scoring PG who can actually distribute decently aswell and who will come off the bench for us and thus can give the opposing bench some real trouble. He might in some cases actually replace Hill in the starting line up. Dude like DC is pretty small though, so putting him on big PG's is a no-no. Hope his contract isn't awfull...

One of the Twitter folks I follow pointed out that Mahinmi's per 36 stats are really good.
Someone Tweeted back that Mahinmi would foul out in 20 minutes.
Kill me now...
Did the Pacers just trade a young, starting PG who led team in playoff PER for the right to pay a back-up center $16M? Looks like I will have more fun rooting for the twolves next season
Last thing I am just wondering how the phone call went...
Dallas: "hey we will give you Ian Mahinmi for Dahntay Jones"
Indy: "Perfect, if you want you can have Darren Collison as well"
Dallas: "(Smiling trying not to breakout in laughter) I guess that will work"
