Just got online, read this tread, and vomitted all over the computer screen.
"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

4 mil for a solid back up C isn't over paying. Hell Asik is getting double that!

So good he was out of the league for a spell there. Keeper.
To be fair I believe Green turned the corner. He starting studying film and putting in the time behind the scenes that is required for professional athletes. I don't know what all of his issues have been, he still might be a headcase, but he did show something when he played for the Nets last season. He would make a good addition to backup Paul and Danny....assuming his head is screwed on straight.

Did the Pacers just trade a young, starting PG who led team in playoff PER for the right to pay a back-up center $16M?

I'm not a DC fan per se but I agree with this.

Hansbrough for Augustine, that's gotta be the play here...

Tyler would put butts in the seats back in Carolina. That's gotta be a move the Kitties would love to make.

Based on everything GM Rich Cho has said to the press, I would be surprised if the Bobcats traded Augustin for anything less than a first round pick. He has gone on and on about emulating the way Seattle/OKC was built, which he was part of as assistant GM. He wants to acquire draft picks and build through the draft.
<---- Hansbrough smiling in the training room after Gerald Henderson's cheap shot. UNC won the game, Tyler was happy so he took this picture. Roy Williams keeps it on his desk.

Everyone just stop, take a deep breath here.

If DC, Jones and Hans nets us. Mahinmi, Augustine and Gerald Green. With the ability to then resign Barbosa to a decent contract.

    What do we think?

    Hibbert/Plumlee
    West/Mahinmi
    Granger/Green
    George/Barbosa
    Hill/DJ

We just turned our bench over. Lance would be able to slot some minutes in there, too.

This beats playing Lou at the 5 if you ask me and gives our 2nd unit SIZE. something we didn't have last season. Plus, I loved DC as a guy but I won't miss his DRIBBLE DRIBBLE DRIBBLE shoot/pass to a guy who is guarded.

My take: He played on a crappy team who didn't give a **** about winning games. They gave him minutes and he put up numbers and made a few highlight dunks.

but we also moved DJ's contract. If we are able to flip Hansbrough for Augustin, I think this is a pretty good move.

Gonna miss the hell out of DC and Dahntay. Very luke warm on this deal. Hopefully the Augustin deal goed through. Our frontcourt is huge now.

Think bird would have made this trade?

Chad Ford has turned hostile towards the Pacers now that his buddy Morway has been shown the door. While I generally agree with what he said, his true colors have been exposed.

Help me out here. Coming in late. Has it been reported that Gerald Green is leaving Nets for Pacers? If not, consider it reported.

Dahntay Jones has been one of my favorite Pacers in recent years, at least as bench players are concerned he ranks right up there for me. And that fact that he learned to defer a little bit more and mastered the corner three without giving up any defensive talent makes me wish we didn't give him up.

It's a little early to speculate, but, worst trade since Troy Murphy came here, imo.

In other words, worst trade since Walsh was last here.

The worst bad about this sign and trade is the amount of money that the Pacers gave to Mahinmi along with the length of the deal. IMO he has barely shown he is worth a guaranteed contract of any type let along 4 years and $16 million.

So the Pacers give up Darren Collison to take on, at best, an average back up big man. Plus they trade Dahntay Jones. I understand DJ frustrates fans but I think he provided some leadership and depth at the 2/3. Now all the Pacers have there is Lance Stephenson and Orlando Johnson both of whom are probably not big enough to play a lot of 3.

To top it off the Pacers want to land DJ Augustine? Trade Tyler for him? IMO DJ is not that much of an upgrade, if any, over DC and I am not sure that Mahinmi is an upgrade over Tyler either. Granted Tyler didn't have a good season last year I would rather keep him than get IM.

This sign and trade and potential acquisition of DJ just don't make sense to me. Maybe the Pacers are not taking a step backwards but I certainly don't think they are taking a step forward either. I might be underrating DJ though...
I think it's more of acquiring pieces that fit better together as opposed to adding better players. DJ is more a natural PG and is a much better 3pt shooter than DC. Pair him with Lance who likes do penetrate, and you have a backcourt that compliments one another. We seem to be ready to get Gerald Green who will be our backup 3, who likes to get up and down the floor. He's also a better 3pt shooter and slasher than Inferno was, so he should give us some good offense off the bench.

Mahinmi is the agile, athletic, shot blocking big that we've never really had. He can play with Roy or with West and assures us of always being able to have a shot blocking presence inside at all times.

All this BEFORE we even see what other moves we may make. Let's be patient and see how everything looks once we're do e making moves.

We definitely are more versatile right now though.

Wow, don't see this. Since he plays in the West, don't know much about him. Isn't he a Defender/Rebounder type guy. Not much of an offensive game.

I like Mahimi. I think that Dallas does as well. But the were offered a very good, young pg and solid veteran wing,.... they couldn't pass it up, I guess.
