If we're talking about a back-up PG then I'm all for it. Myck Kabongo fits the physical profile of the Pacers so I would have no problem with him.

But someone talked about finding a PG of the future and transitioning Hill in a 6th man role. That's something I don't agree with. A PG in the vain of Hill and Conley is exactly the kind of PG that the Pacers need.

For a 6th man, I'd prefer a Guard - Forward type that can score in a combination of ways (3 point shooting, getting to the line or a post-up game).

I would like to see the player the Pacers draft be quick and can finish. I believe Lance can play point when Hill is out.
Plus this player has to be athletic and have decent size.
I think the player who could EVENTUALLY fill this need is Goodwin.
    Draftexpress.com has a good writeup.

    Good defender also.

That is always the part hardest to evaluate. Lance certainly was not a mature player when he came here. Outside of the personality issue
I think he has the ability.

Newest Draftexpress mock out. They now have Glen Rice at #31. That's a big jump from earlier mocks.

Pacers at #23 is Giannis Adetokunbo
    Pacers at #53 Vander Blue

The name Vander Blue would be a great name to give to a Kerry Blue Terrier.

I would be very, very happy if those turned out to be our picks.

I've heard that Vander Blue could develop into a good defensive stopper at the guard position. Here's his write up -> http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Vander-Blue-5960/

He has ok size for a combo guard (6'4) and a good wingspan (according to sources, I haven't been able to find his actual numbers) and is supposed to be a great athlete and capable finisher in transition. His offensive game needs work, though.

I have covered Adetokunbo in a previous post. I'd love him here. I believe that we can develop him.

Chances are that he will go higher. He is getting some pretty good hype and he could be picked in the lottery. Some people even say that he could go top 10.

Also, I expect his stock to rise during the work-outs. His measurements are guaranteed to make one or two GMs fall in love with his physical profile and upside.

I am getting sad thinking about the draft. I really dont like this draft especially for what we need. I hope to god we somehow find a quick guard who defends. I dont see it here. Gonna be slim pickings this draft sucks. If we get a 10-12th man I would call that a huge success the pick wont have much trade value either.

about, Archie he is not a good defender IMO. Slow footed and reads the PnR awful.(that is correctable with coaching). He actually reminds me of Lance on defense except he doesn't have the edge like Lance. Lance was much more physical in college and that is the reason I believe Lance has become a good defender in the NBA. He also ball watches too much off the balll. Archie is not what this team needs. I like him long term in the NBA ,but not for us and there is a good chance he never pans out.

Don't you think that Schroeder fits the definition of a quick guard who defends?

Also, don't you think that Adetokunbo would be a good pick?

Or do you simply see them going higher than our range?

I think that if Schroeder is available then you select him. He would be an ideal backup PG for us imo, and possibly a future starter if he progresses and reaches his full potential. You have to remember he is playing at a high level AND he is only 19 years old. After watching footage he has very impressive lateral quickness on the defensive end, is a decent three point shooter, has great vision, and is very quick. He does need to work on his mid-range game though, and finish better at the rim. At our pick though, he would be a steal.

My guess is that we're going to trade the pick, perhaps as sweetener to a larger (financially-driven) deal, and try to sign a veteran guard later on.

So, Schroeder and Antetokounmpo have been given first round promises, according to sources.

I've read some tweets saying Cody Zeller has been off-the-charts good in physical measurements at the combine,

1st position among all big men in virtually all categories, with a 37.5 Max Vertical, 35.5 Standing vertical, fastest times in agility drills, speed drills, etc.

Highest recorded standing vertical ever recorded at the combine for a post prospect. Comparators: Amare Stoudamire: 32 inches. Joakim Noah: 32.5 inches. Dwight Howard: 30.5 inches.

Cody did his sprint in 3.15 seconds, second fastest recorded by a post prospect behind Dwight Howard's 3.14 seconds.

    Height 7'0.25 in shoes
    wingspan was low though: 6'10.75"

Are they having any success in making his arms longer or his hands bigger? He has the wing span of a 6'8" player....

his wingspan is the same as his height (w/o shoes), not sure how that is the same as a 6'8" player

I was wondering when this thread would get back up and going, ah wonderful draft time.

I am not as up-to-date as I was in previous years about prospects, but learning more about them should be interesting. I am thinking two areas we will try to address are backup PG, future PF, and possibly future SG.

Three guys who I have in mind are.... Allan Crabbe, Mason Plumblee, Dennis Schroder, I would be happy with any of those 3, I know Plumblee is not who most would like, but I think he would be a solid option if available, tough, has various ways of scoring, very fast for his position, can play down low and can be a scorer at times, although he will have to work on that area.

I should add, I have always been a Archie Goodwin fan, but he really did not develop this year at all, and if you can not develop in the least bit being coached by Cal then and you are a guy that fits his system then there is a big problem there.

Also two guys I like are Larkin and Ray McCullam, I love Larkins leadership ability as well as the ability to take over and hit threes, he also is sneaky on the defensive end, I would prefer a longer PG though looking at the tough guys that we will have to go against in Rose and Irving, but maybe his quickness would allow him to help in that area, p.s. I understand he would not come in starting over Hill.

Cody Zeller went all Miles Plumlee today workout warrior. Put up some crazy numbers.

    Larkin's max vert is insane

Tony Mitchell's vert was 38 I figured it would be 40+ he has crazy bounce.

Crabbe is so lazy the other two wshould be gone from what I have read. I like Crabbe ,but ill take a guy who plays hard over him he just plays way to soft IMO.

Schroeder must not have a promise he worked out today.
