Really? Really? Are you really trying to float the idea that making 17-19 year-olds eligible for the draft is going to help the quality of basketball played in the NCAA? Am I understanding you correctly?
p4e might be referring to the Derrick Rose's, Eric Gordon's, etc of the college game. One and done isn't ideal for the college game from an off the court standpoint. Obviously, Anthony Davis or MKG (for example) going straight to the D-League out of high school would have made UK's on court talent much worse last year, but off the court, building a program, getting an education, etc.... that's probably where the NCAA suffers with one and done talent. Arguments can be made for both sides and those arguments will always exist, but I think this might be where p4e was coming from.

I certainly agree with changing something in the system. Maybe not exactly like how baseball works, but maybe similar to how baseball works. Get the kids who dont' want to be on a college campus in the D-League and build something of a farm system for the NBA. Let the young fellas develop (if even for a year) and get them acclimated to the NBA way of life on and off the court... their chance of success might increase. Would Gerald Green (for example, you can sub in any non Kobe or KG player here) have an entirely different career if this were the case? Who knows.

Again, I see both sides of the argument and this argument could go on forever, but I'm with p4e on this one.

    Go Hoosiers.

I've only seen one person compare Roy to Zeller in this entire thread.

For starters, even ignoring any talent differences, they are pretty much entirely different players.
Yeah Roy is 7'2, dominant and a great defender. Zeller has solid athleticism but is not tough inside and won't be in the NBA

So Zeller is just going to not make it in the NBA huh?

Don't agree with that. Probably neither do some of the NBA caliber guys that have gone up against him.

Look Cody is not top 5. I wouldn't even take him top 10 necessarily.

But if you get him anywhere after 10 that is a pretty good pick. 7 feet tall, can run the court, good touch around the hoop, a better rebounder than he is given credit for. If you can get him a couple back to the basket moves, he could actually end up surprising people at this point.

Zeller is a 4, in fact a lot of people might say he is a prototype 4 in an up and down NBA. Especially if that face up J we saw him flash against MSU is here to stay.

You want to make it out like it is only IU fans hyping up Oladipo and Zeller, but the fact is there is a reason both of these guys are likely lottery picks. And in Victor's case probably a lock for the top 10 at this point.

18 and 6 on 6/8 against Minny's big front court.

17 and 8 against a very big Georgetwon team.

He struggled the first time against MSU, but was more aggressive second time and flashed that face up J that will be very important to his development against stronger guys.

He absolutely housed Hammons in their second matchup.

I get all the complaints about Cody, but he is still averaging 16.6 and 8 on 59% shooting in the toughest conference in the country. And he does it a lot of the time with two guys defending him.

Saying that he is just going to flop out of the NBA is goofy.

I think these players should be given two options at the end of high school. Get drafted into the NBA and play for a DLeague team for two or three years or go to college and not be able to come out until after sophomore or junior year. Maybe their DLeague salary could be set at a lower point than what the normal rookie salary scale is so there is not such a huge discrepancy in money (maybe 10% of their draft position). This almost ensures that players will be 21 once they hit the league. I also think that if a player that is drafted and hits certain accolades in the DLeague, they can be brought up to the parent team early at full rookie salary. I agree that I don't like the one and done precedent. It leads to more paying of players by universities and trouble for the NCjokeA.

If Cody Zeller is going to play PF in the NBA and by some miracle falls to us then isn't this the perfect scenario?

I mean, he was supposed to go #1 before the season started and he would be a huge draw for the fans here. Plus, PF is a position of need in the future when David West hangs it up.

    Basically, what's not to like?

PS: Of course, the chances of him falling to us are slim. But I can dream, right?

I just think it's pretty funny that 7ft 240lbs isn't an NBA body. Makes Anthony Davis 6'10 220lbs all that much more impressive. I mean, Cody is bigger than Ian. Miles was drafted, IMHO, purely on phsyical reasons Cody and him are practically identical size wise.

I've been ******** on Cody Zeller's NBA prospects all season, and rightfully so in my opinion, but if for some God foresaken reason the Pacers found themselves with the ability to draft him this year, they better do so in a nanosecond.

remember how Sullinger completely dominated Zeller last year at OSU? That is what will happen to Zeller in the NBA. The centers are to big and physical for him

I don't know if he does but I'm not joking at all.

Cody Zeller was #1 in several mock drafts at the start of the season. If he has that kind of talent and for whatever reason he falls so bad that we can acquire him with a very late 1st round pick then why would we not do this?

I don't follow the NCAA as much as any other poster in this thread but that's just what seems logical.

No I don't remember Sullinger dominating Zeller.

I do however remember Zeller being the only Hoosier who acutally showed up for the game in Columbus last year. Where he went for 16 and 6 on 7/9 shooting against Sully.
