    Default Draft Day Predictions

I figure this is a good time and place for everyone to make their predictions on what the Pacers will do during this draft.

    I have two simple predictions.

First is that we go ahead with the Jimmer trade. Doing that trade will save some money for next season and would free up about 800K - 1.3 million now which could then be used to help buy another pick.

Second is that we purchase another pick at either pick 13 or somewhere in the late first round or early second round range all depending on if our player is still on the board.

As kind of a backup prediction I almost feel like we will package Green and 23 for a player on someones roster, I am just not sure it would be for Jimmer. This could all be a smoke screen just to see if someone else will come to us with a better offer. Leak a reasonable trade proposal that makes some since a couple days before the draft to maximize the interest of other teams and possibly upgrade the original deal.

What are other peoples thoughts and predictions?

Your suggestion had me thinking. What is the highest draft pick in NBA history that was purchased? I can't imagine it was above #20.

I think we do the Jimmer trade.
Either obtain the #36 pick from Sac or buy a mid 30's pick and take Jackie Carmichael or Archie Goodwin.
Take Ray McCallum if he slips to #53 or take Kabongo or Solomon Hill.

Take Jimmer, Carmichael, McCallum or Kabongo and call it a day.

To follow that up does anyone know what the maximum amount of money is that a team can offer for a draft pick?

Im guessing we make the Jimmer trade and KP convinces them to take GG and give us #36.

Then we take Carmichael at 36 and Siva at 53.
Stop quoting people I have on ignore!

or if the pick is kept

1: Draft Erick Green or Dennis Schroeder (if he falls) at #23
2: Buy a mid 30's pick and take Jackie Carmichael or Archie Goodwin.
3: Take Solomon Hill at #53

OR if we go the trading Granger route
1: Trade to the Mavs or Bucks in a deal including #13 or #15 and shedding Green's salary as well as the #23 pick.
    2: Draft CJ McCollum
3: Buy a mid 30's pick and take Jackie Carmichael or Archie Goodwin.
    4:Take Solomon Hill.

I think keeping #23 and buying a mid-30's pick or trading up in the 2nd round is the most likely route.

My prediction is with the 23rd pick we select Erick Green/Isaiah Canaan (I dont have a clue which one) and with the 53rd pick we select Solomon Hill, I dont think we make any trades

I think if Schroeder falls any minor trade is off. Schroeder sounds like the perfect 'diamond in the rough" type guy KP was talking about. (assuming KP wasn't just GM speaking)

If this is what i think the Pacers will do.

Probably draft some workout warrior that impressed them like Miles Plumlee last year and it will be some unknown 2nd round guy most of the forum will be saying WTF when we pick him.

I unfortunately am coming to terms with the probability of us trading Jimmer for Green and a pick. So I think that will happen.

Our arena, their arena, Rucker park, it just doesn't matter. We're bigger, longer, younger, faster, and hungrier.

We pass on Erick Green and PD riots in the street like the Canucks just lost the Stanley Cup.

I hope we learned from the Miles Plumlee experiment. I have a feeling something will happen that nobody expected. Whether it be that we draft somebody that nobody was really expecting or we make a trade that hasn't been talked about.

Pacers take Kelly Olynyk in the first. Everyone riots. We get 30, new threads calling for Donnie's head. National media laughs at the Pacers again.

Pacers take Kabongo in the 2nd after trading up.

Nothing like missing on a guy projected to possibly go 40th haha.

Id still be happy if we took him but the reactions if we pass will be priceless

Here he's not a guy projected to be a 2nd rounder. He's the savior. I like Green and I will be happy if he's a Pacer, but sometimes people make it sound like he's a can't-miss prospect. I sort of hope we pass on him for someone like Olynyk just to see the reaction.

We'll pass on Erick Green causing a forum-wide meltdown (over a kid 90% of the posters here have never actually seen play). They'll draft Tony Mitchell in the 1st round then trade up in the 2nd and draft Myck Kabongo, making me a very happy man.

I think KP will be burning up the phones to make a deal for an established player that will actually be in the rotation. Who it will be and what it will cost to get him we shall see, but my prediction is that we will be picking for someone else at 23.

Why would we riot? He's generally rated second round...

If we are talking riot, then I have the perfect scenario. Mason Plumlee falls to the Pacers at 23. For the second year in a row we hear the Plumlee name called, leading to the burning down of four bars in the greater indianapolis area where there are Pacer's draft parties (Kilroy's is pissed cause they lose two buildings.) Mason get's to play with his brother, again, in their home town of Fort Wayne, where they dominate the D-League, where they become known as the D-League Destroyers.

Because since T-bird posted his analysis of Green most of the forum has been acting like Green's the missing link to an nba championship.

P4E was campaigning Green long b4 T-Bird did. I will admit T-Bird's evaluation did alot to make Green a popular choice.

    1st scenario
Pacers keep the #23 pick and draft Dieng if he's available and Siva at #53.

    2nd scenario
If Dieng isn't available they draft Green/Canaan and Solomon Hill at #53.

In either scenario, they trade Plumlee, a future 2nd to move up in the 2nd rd to draft Jackie Carmmichael as a Tyler replacement.

The Pacers then pick up a b/u PG and PF in FA on 2-3 year contracts with Team Options or unguaranteed years on the 2nd and 3rd years.

Prediction: No trades for us, we keep the 23rd and draft Green or Bullock

What I want: Pritchard to do what he did in '07

I know, I was just messing around. I thought T-bird's analyses of draft prospects were great. But it also makes me laugh how everyone get's so emotionally attached to players pre-draft that most of us only saw play a few times last year.

I'm not sure who the player will be because we have no idea who will be available that late, but I'm almost willing to bet that 65% of PD is going to leave draft night disappointed due to the player we have picked in the first round.

I hope I'm wrong, but I just have a hunch TPTB have their eye on someone a lot of us won't agree with. (IE Plumlee-esque)

In the 2nd round I think we go Solomon Hill type of athletic project.
