Thread: Second Shoe (Dragic) in Nash Deal Drops

Default Second Shoe (Dragic) in Nash Deal Drops

Goran Dragic has agreed to sign to return to Phoenix, which must be why they agreed to the sign and trade for Nash.

    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/ey...to-4-year-deal

Dragic is fourteen years younger than Nash, and is just emerging as a star, possibly a super-star, in a bit of the Nash playing style. After all, he learned from Nash while playing behind him.

He settled for less than the ten million per year that he was reportedly seeking. I think that we could have had him if he had been on our radar. I never thought we had much chance at Nash, nor, because of his age, did I think that was a good idea, but I think that Dragic would have made us significantly better for a long time.

So I join those mourning Nash's signing in order to mourn his replacement's signing.

I would have much preferred Dragic at 7.5 mil than Hill at 8

Dragic deal is at 8.5. but who knows how high the price would be with more suitors.

The Suns are spending $108 mil on a Dragic, EJ, Beasley trio for the next 3-4 years. Houston is spending $55 mil on Lin and Asik the next 3-4 years. Building through FA isn't always what it's hyped up to be....

Good point. The Suns are getting something done quickly while we're not, but the only one of these players likely to go beyond medicore is Gordon and that's a big risk. The Asik contract with Houston is just plain stupid and it's a reach for Lin. I guess I wouldn't want any of those players at that price including Gordon. I think the sample of high quality play from both Dragic and Lin is just too small to pay that much. We should have learned this from DC's starting time for the Hornets. I think I'd rather offer DC an extension for that kind of money at this point then to take the risk that Dragic and Lin are the real deal.
I still think that the only player worth making a push for at this point is Kaman.
I'd much rather overspend on a proven talent then a mediocre player.

Did a thread about Dragic just become another thread about Gordon?

A lot of people are freaking out at PHX for making that trade.. But I feel its a good one for both teams. Even if they somehow kept Nash, PHX was going nowhere.. Now they have two future 1st's and 2 future 2nd's for a guy they likely were losing anyways. Great deal for them. Also they get a young talented PG that will be well developed by the time those rookies come piling in.

Good trade for LA too because they are in win now mode and are the favorites to win the championship with a crazy good core of Nash, Kobe, MWP, Gasol, Bynum and that's just the starting line. That team will whoop Miami if they don't get much better.

And some people here were trying to convince the board that Dragic would be the Pacers pg next season. Good call right there.

I think that once Nash turned down the Pacers offer, they focused on re-signing Hill to be the starting PG. I don't necessarily agree but I will just hope that Hill improves his playmaking ability while continuing the hot shooting he had once he was named the full-time starter.

New Orleans is going to match the Phoenix offer sheet so the Suns FA hunt doesn't seem that successful. They did the right thing by getting 2 firsts and 2 second round picks from the Lakers for Nash. That's more than they would've received from any other team in the league if they had traded him during the season.

Saying that the Pacers FA hunt is a failure is very premature considering no free agents have been signed and no trades have been finalized. Besides, the Pacers always keep things close to the vest. You never hear about a lot of rumors until a deal is close to being done. Free agency will continue all the way until training camp starts. Don't get so worked up about it before it happens.
