    He is worth a max contract we need a guy who can score off the dribble and defend and the only way we can get that elite talent in the next few years is by shelling out huge money in free agency.


    If we add EJ we are legit contender so a max contract IMO is worth it. (he and Dwill are the only 2 in free agency IMO)



    and his contract is insurable if he gets a serious injury. We are a small market team we have to take this risk or we will be stuck in being pretenders for the next 10 years

    I'm sure you'll get push-back for this, but to me what's interesting is that IF any other team puts in a max bid, then by definition Herb no longer has to worry about "overpaying" for a RFA. The market essentially would say, "You want him or not? If not, fine, someone(s) else already has agreed to pay as much as is allowed."
