heh. Fortunately, they could've done it anyway. So they must have something more ambitious in mind.

...or maybe they just want to hold onto the cap as long as possible. We won't have it again any time soon. So might as well enjoy it.

Just going up on ESPN. Clipoers will be 4th team in D Howard deal. They would take back MarShon Brooks in return for a lottery protected 1st

that's a lengthy deal for a guy like Novak but there's no doubt he fits perfectly there. Didn't realize Novak was already 29, but it's not exactly like his game requires any athleticism anyway.

I'm sure its not the Pacers, but Marshon Brooks is exactly the get-your-own-shot kind of player they need, despite how he looked in summer league today.
Lol, did not like him so much from his performance today that looks like he is going to the Clippers, always thought he was a centerpiece in the trade...

Depends when the pick is. Next year ours and the Clipps will both be in the same 23+ range most likely. If it's 2013 I'd take Brooks. Later than that, not really sure. I'm not as big on Brooks as most.

That seems pretty stupid by the Magic. The Clips pick will probably be early 20s. The chance of getting someone as good or better than Brooks at that spot - like 30-50%?

Hopefully we are playing our hand close to the chest, and haven't folded yet.

Since you didn't answer the follow-up question in the thread where I asked it, and you're going to bring it up here, I'll ask you here.

Is Kyle Lowry-type player the missing piece for the Pacers? Because that's what the discussion was. Of course you can get players for first round draft picks, but you cannot get the level of talent you were calling for.

Clippers, are you serious? Pacers would rather try to pay Mayo $8M rather than sending a first for a controllable player like MarShon.

    Ugh!!!!!!!

What is our front office doing?

Why on Earth would the NOT Pacers do this?

Geez.....this is the epitomy of getting quality talent at a cheap cost.

Kyle Lowry was an example but if you are the Pacers why don't you take a chance on a guy like him for a draft pick? 14, 6 and 4 for a draft pick? he has a better chance to be the point guard of the future over Hill and DC in my opinion.

Could be that we offered, but the Eastern teams in this trade would rather not help us and would have Marshon go West instead.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

Brooks should have been a lottery pick. He fell on draft day and it was obvious he went too low. Then he plays very well in his rookie year and proves that he deserved to be a lottery pick. Now he's being traded for a non-lottery pick? Damn, teams need to learn their lesson on him. Brooks is a baller. A bit of a chucker but he knows how to score. That would be a great pickup for the Clippers. I wish we could get on it

The deal is going to get done one way or another. Pacers could have picked up a controllable sg, with loads of talent, for cheap.

    Man, this really sucks.

Seems pretty logical to me. We're clearly in win now mode, why be the missing piece to creating another superfriends team?

we should of been in this deal taking Hump and Brooks.

Berger is saying Clipps haven't agreed to take Brooks yet.

what Exception are they using for Brooks the one from the Reggie Evans S&T that would be full circle.

He still has a lot of potential an at some points last season he was NJ 2nd best player, he can handle the ball and get his own shot, and showed some defense as well. But yeah I am think if it was for a mid 20's pick I would not mind, unless, PJIII or Quincy Miller were still available, lol.

Get ready to see OJ's contract for probably the same production that Brook could get us.

L.A.'s own lottery-protected first would go to Orlando in deal, if Clippers agree, source says. Organization is mulling it over.

Of course they'll lottery protect it, but there's no way the Clips get close to the lottery unless Paul and Blake go down for the season. Too much talent on that team.

Clippers one of several teams in mix to facilitate trade by providing another first-round pick to Orlando for Brooks, sources say.
