A draft pick? He's a free agent, isn't there a team out there that can negotiate a fair contract that would actually like having him and not taking him as some sort of burden....That's incredible.

I would hope the Pacers would have an interest.

If Dwight to the Nets goes down it's huge for blogger media. They've been over it all day, saying it may go down officially tomorrow.

This is also why I'm highly skeptical of it all, but I'm just saying.

I forgot Lopez would be a BYC player in any sign and trade, which means his outgoing salary for trade purposes would be half of what he actually gets paid in his first year.

The way I figure it, if the Magic want to include Jason Richardson in the deal to Brooklyn, the Nets would have to sign and trade FIVE players in order to get it done.

Maybe bringing back Hill at this bloated amount was the best option that was available.

    Surely, you jest.

Felton, Sessions, Lowry, etc were all available when the Pacers made an offer to Hill. At least one of them is still available.

I'm beginning wonder if Pritchard's ability to make deals is being thwated by Walsh. There have been some players traded, offers accepted, and S&T, and what are the Pacers doing? All I can hope for is a trade or two later in the off season.

Humphries would be a great acquistion for the Pacers for basically cap. I'd much rather have had him than pay Hill that bloated contract. He then becomes DWest replacement after next season.

I agree. I don't understand offering Hill such a big contract. Should have let the market dictate. There is no way in hell another team would have offered $8M/yr. Pacers, once again, get spooked by their own shadow and out bid themselves. Just like they got spooked with Plumlee.

Just not liking what's going on so far. Pacers were supposed to be in a position with cap space to do something. So far, it's been eerily quite.

I see Rush made the news, I haven't seen Lou make the news yet, I wonder why?

daldridgetnt Pacers clear a roster spot by opting to renounce their rights to guard A.J. Price, making him an unrestricted free agent, per source.

Goodbye AJ you were a good third string guard

Diogu just played himself into a nice contract. I think an NBA return is still a longshot for him, but some Euro or Chinese team will give him a big payday.

I honestly though Diogu was better than he got a shot at being. Perfect example of how being in the wrong place at the wrong time can keep you from ever blossoming…..def a little undersized….but the guy had, has NBA talent….but I agree a return to the NBA us unlikely.

oh snap, just saw on facebook a frat brother of mine has his (real) older brother on the nigeria team...this is as close as I'm ever getting to the olympics, that's for sure!

wonder if the nigeria team can make any noise at the games? they've got three ex- or current NBA players on the roster, which seems like a decent number...other players seem to be solid D1/summer-league caliber...

Given all this talk about Frontloading contracts.....you have to wonder if the FO was afraid that he'd get some wired-@ss frontloaded contract that would make it unpalateable for the Pacers to match.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

I would think that a front loaded contract would be the way to go. If Simon would dump extra money this year, it would help cap for the next 3 years. Even if it was so high this year to push Pacers into luxury tax (which I doubt) the high penalty doesn't start for 2 seasons.

I would really like to see a front loaded. I don't see why more teams don't do it. Sure, there is some risk, but they are high risk. Sure would make his value raise for year 2,3 & 4.

    That's cool.

Nigeria plays an athletic style that will give some teams trouble. Against equally athletic but much more skilled teams like France or Spain though, they probably don't stand much of a chance. But against the lower tier teams like Tunisia, Great Britain, Australia, maybe even China, yeah they're looking pretty good.

Cross off two more backup bigs off your lists:

Sacramento re-signs Jason Thompson to a multiyear deal starting at $6m.

Memphis re-signs Darrell Arthur to 2 year deal worth $9-10m total.

well that makes 8 mil off their cap now with Brewer and Watson waived. Kyle Korver next? They are still way over cap. 68 mil without Asik.

@AlexKennedyNBA: The Magic, Nets and Cavaliers are in serious talks on a three-team trade that involves Dwight Howard and many other players.

Billy King pulls it off I'll take back everything bad I ever said about him.

And if Orlando gets the crap back that it looks like (picks and capspace) then that new GM stinks. So much for the "he worked under Presti!" argument.
