@sam_amick: Ray Allen to Miami, apparently RT @MickyArison: Its 2:30am in London and I was just woken up with great news. Welcome to the family #20!!

    Ray Allen joins Miami.
I'd love to hear the full story there. There have been rumors it's about Allen and Rondo not getting along, or disenchantment with the organization. It has to be pretty juicy for him to do this.

That's unfortunate. I was hoping Ray would return to Boston.

Maybe E.Moore will get more playing time.

Ray Allen turned down double the money, a no-trade clause and familiarity of Boston to sign with Miami. There has to be more to this story.

Probably didn't like how he was almost traded--didn't feel like the organization was loyal to him so he didn't feel like returning. He doesn't need the money at this point, either.

This is one of the many articles that talk about how Allen and Rondo had a strained relationship. Lots of smoke to have no fire....

Can they still get Camby after they get Ray Allen?

But I'm SURE I read multiple times in 50 Hibbert threads that players never turn down money.

yes he is a 10+ year vet and the min is over 2m dollars for him. He was only looking for 3m and that is about what he is worth so he is only taking a 1m discount if he signs there.

The Olympic qualifiers have been interesting tonight Andy Varejao finally looks healthy and is moving better than I have seen him in years. Argentina and Brazil looks like it will go down to the wire.

Dudes like Camby will play for the vet minimum for the chance to have a party year in Miami and get a ring. We knew that the Wade/LeBron combo in Miami would be a magnet for vets looking for that last chance at a ring. The Cuban women and beach/nightlife don't hurt too. We also knew that once LeBron got one, he was gonna get 4. So, we might as well enter another 3-year rebuild

a 35+ year old Ray Allen is hardly a star especially considering how bad he played last year.

If all he has to do is hit wide open 3s, I think he can be very effective.

He is good still no doubt. But the poster called him a star and taking less to join the Heat and IMO that isnt true of Allen anymore he clearly isnt a star. He has made tons of money that isn't a motive anymore he is a role player at this point and vet role players are gonna flock to the Heat.

On the other hand, he may have turned into a ring chaser, like so many others.

There aren't too many guys at the end of their careers who aren't ring chasers, anymore.

How bad he played? He was injured and pushed through during the playoffs. Allen is still a very good player.

And the Heat don't need him to be. He wont even need to start in Miami. The Heat need someone to replace Mike Miller. Ray Allen is a damn good replacement.
