This guy writes for ESPN's Hornets blog. He interviewed Gordon, emphatically states Gordon wants to leave the Hornets.
He's practically been begging New Orleans not to match since the verbal agreement was announced. I really think it's to the point where New Orleans will have to consider moving him. His injury concerns were bad enough, but add on the fact that he emphatically wants out, and it may be more trouble than he's worth.

I wonder how it feels to let a title team walk for the chance at a shiny new "maybe", only to find that you are headed back to the lottery?
Are you talking about the Mavs or the Colts??

It doesn't set well with me either. However, if Mayo pulls ahead of Paul George and lands in the starting lineup, you then have a reasonably priced starter, and a cheap, experienced backup.

Or Mayo becomes the starter, and PG is used to bring in the future PF.

I don't like that one little bit.

Who is going to play "D" on Wade, etc? Please don't say Hill. He had a problems playing "D" against Nelson.

They had to amnesty Brand to make room for Nick Young. I think they're going to try and sign Ilyasova to start at PF.

    Or trade for Hansbrough. (Green)

My hunch is that if we do bring in Mayo, it'll be to become the eventual starting SG, with Paul George at SF.

O.J. started all 164 games in his first two seasons (including on a decent 40-win team), and put up 18/4/3 with very respectable shooting percentages. I think he's proven he's good enough to be a long-term starter, and, at 24, could pair up with 22-year-old Paul George to give us our starting wings for a long time.

If my hunch is right, then that could free up the aging, and, let's be honest, somewhat declining Danny to eventually be used as a trade chip to help upgrade another area.

A big piece with Gordon venting:

    http://www.nola.com/hornets/index.ss...d_eric_21.html

meh, a drama queen. there's no need to say anything like that. Especially the part where he's criticizing the Hornets for their draft and makes a remark regarding Jason Smith. Not classy, Eric.

Sheesh, the quotes from the NO writer along with this video certainly start to paint the picture of a prima donna.

He expects to be the cornerstone player.

Not sure he's shown jack in that regard. Tons of potential... but plenty to show.

just basiclly he wanted to feel wanted by NOLA and them not calling him and showing him he is the caliber of player he feels he is(not offering the max made him not want to be a Hornet he wants to go to a team that feels he is the face of the franchise. That is reading between the lines a bit but that is what I take from it.

I am guessing drafting Austin Rivers pissed him off as much as not offering a max right away.

here are some quotes in this article .....http://www.nola.com/hornets/index.ss...d_eric_21.html

But putting down his teammates I never though I would hear him say that really disappointing. Jason Smith especially dude has made strides and one of the hardest working guys you will see. He isnt talented at all but a great teammate and a great person and backup big.

But being the cornerstone player I see he wants to be that guy always has and always will main reason he was sick of LA with the way Sterling treated Blake Griffin and not giving him the same treatment

I'm definitely surprised Gordon is saying all of this, he REALLY appears like he does not want to play in NO. It's going to be interesting to see how Hornets fans react to him once the season starts if he's still on the team.

Hill can play D. Just because he got screened to death by Orlando doesn't change that. It was a team defensive problem.

Really? I then watched Vogel bring in DC to shut down Nelson by himself where Hill couldn't.

Hill had a bad series against Nelson but other than that his defense was very solid all season.

If you want to look at that one series then fine, but Hill's a good to very good defender.

full unedited interview pretty disappointed in EJ. I get his thinking about the best player cornerstone thing but terrible way he is handling this. With that said Demps has said he wants EJ to be the key player and player to build around. With players like that on July 1st at 12:01 you give him the max offer now that you have an owner. I don't blame EJ for thinking they are blowing smoke actions speak louder than words. Plus a player you want to build a team around you need to keep communications with him.

Cmon, DC will never be in Hill's league defensively. DC matches up well against PGs his size, but there aren't many of those left in the league.

it takes two people to guard a screen doesn't it?

roy hibbert's not exactly quick on his feet to effectively guard a pick and roll

I'll give EJ the credit for having the sac to make a decision and state it publicly and loudly. Too bad not everyone can say that.

I keep reading this, and agree it's really nice. But he's been replaced as a starter twice. by Tony Allen and Xavier Henry, iirc. Both of those guys are just guys. That's screams there's something wrong here.

    Henry, yes.

Tony Allen isnt just a "guy", hes arguably the best perimeter defender jn the entire league.

Okay EJ didnt' say anything bad about his teammates. He only mentioned Smith as the only big they had before they got Davis. So now they have 2 offensively challenged bigs. Thats just facts. His point about Rivers is spot on. If I was player where the team was telling me I am the corner stone and the guy, then why should you be drafting my back up in the lottery? Rivers is no point guard so they can't even go there. The don't have a real small forward, unless you think Aminu is the guy.

I wish somebody would ask him about whether Indiana made an offer or not? Was the offer greater than NOLA's previous offer? I wouldn't be surprised if he said it wasn't.
