. . . Despite having some issues.....talented young Players like Beasley and Hickson didn't get a Qualifying Offer. Players like Brandon Bass and Jameer Nelson didn't pick up their Player Options.
JMO, but maybe these guys are not as talented as people think. Especially when they come off their rookie contracts. Paying full price for a guy that has potential or maybe good some day, is a big waste of cap space. There are lots of guys just as good as Beasley or HIckson that make more sense for the money.

I think Bass and Nelson want longer term money. They think they have a better chance to get it this year than next, when they are a year older.

Cavs wanted a lottery pick for Varejao on Thursday. Good luck.
I'd give them next years 1st, which would be a 20 something pick, and Plumlee/Hans/Stanko/Stephenson plus cap for Varejao in a heartbeat. He's the X-factor, 4/5who is tuff, has mega energy, and plays great "D". Compare his contract with what Hibbert is asking. Granted he's not the scorer Hibbert is, but the 5 mil per year savings can go towards signing someone that is.

I've wanted Andy for a long time. I realize it's a dream, but one that I not quite ready to give up on yet.

No way in hell you get him for that package though. Where do they place all these 2nd and 3rd line players of ours on their 15-man roster? Not too mention the pick aswell (though that could be an easy asset in a trade, offcourse).

Broussard article about Jeremy Lin possibly not returning to Knicks.
I would just laugh if some Team did this and the Knicks lose Lin.

If a Team is capable of doing this...and were interested in Lin...they should do it.

All the players I mentioned are NOT being traded. They can pick pick lets say Plumlee and Hans to go along with the pick and cap. I just gave a selection of possible players to choose from. I believe the pick, Plumlee, Hans, plus cap would be a nice offer. In essence, anyway you slice it they are only adding 2 players to their roster.

So I've seen about 5 minutes of him in the NBA so I have no clue if it'd be a good move, but DJ White didn't get a QO from Charlotte. Any interest on the cheap?

If it's for the minimum I would do it. Other guys are Joel Pryzbilla, Nazr Mohammed, Jermaine O'Neal, Fes the man himself, Reggie Evans, and Ian Mahinmi...

I would just say pick one out of a hat who would come here for the minimum.

Anybody think that Donnie would really want to bring JO back?

For those of you who wanted to draft Jrue Holiday over Hansbrough he apparently is now asking for a max extension to his contract

    SpearsNBAYahoo Marc J. Spears

Sixers guard Jrue Holiday added to USA select team roster. Holiday also is seeking a max contract extension from Sixers, source tells Yahoo!

White had some good games for the Cats last year, but wasn't consistant with his play. I even rooted for him in one game. That's almost unheard of for me to root for a IU player. The Pacers already have Pendergraph though.

    Pryzbilla won't come cheap.

I'd say with Bird gone I could see JO now being signed for 1 day just to retire as a Pacer. Otherwise, no to bringing back JO.

It might just be me, but I wasn't overly impressed with Holiday's play last year. To me, he needs to produce more if he want's a max contract. JMOAA

I like Holiday a lot, but him getting the max is as likely as me getting a 10 day

Well, every team can afford 5 max contracts. Therefore, every starter should get max. It's logical.

    Spencer (Indiana)

What are the odds of Indiana matching Portland's offer on Roy Hibbert?
    Chad Ford (1:31 PM)

51%. They are really on the fence. If they can find a replacement that they are comfortable with for cheaper, they may let him go. Chris Kaman is coming in today into Indy. Personally I feel that's a pretty big downgrade, but Larry Bird has been a huge fan of Kaman's.

Let's just hope that KP and DW are running the show now when it comes to Free Agency.

All I am saying is that IF the Pacers do not choose to match Hibbert.....they better be using the $$$ to go after another "Difference Maker" after going after Kaman. Hibbert is our "Difference Maker"....losing him makes little sense if we don't get another one.

I'm surprised we're that much on the fence with this, 51%? Yes, it's overpaying, but is the difference 2-3 milion per year we spend on Dahntay Jones really that big of a deal?

I think our brass may be overthinking this one too much and getting cute. You've got a 7 foot young center coming off an all-star appearance who has his best basketball ahead of him, yet that's the difference in keeping him?
