I don't think this is a very strong draft. I think there will be some players that do well in our league, but there's a lot of kids that didn't come out. I think I made the statement that I like Ty Zeller, he's going back to school. He didn't come out. Damn.
I wouldn't be surprised if we did move up to get him. It's not the whole "Bird draft White guys" theory...it's that once Bird spots talent and is interested in him....he latches onto that guy and he doesn't forget.

Why do that when they can draft Lillard at #10? They have Jack and Vasquez, so why do they truly need DC who they'd have to re-sign next year. Lillard would be their PG of the future, and DC wouldn't be..
I don't see Lillard ( the best PG in the draft ) falling past the Blazers or the Raptors before the 10th pick.

I'm talking about Trading DC to move up so we can get Zeller, of course you are happy if Zeller drops to 26th but moving up to get him? Meh.
I'm guessing that if Zeller drops to the mid-teens...that Bird goes after him. I simply don't see DC netting the Pacers the #10 or #11 pick.....simply because he just doesn't hold that much trade value.....but DC for a Player in the mid-teens? Sure...the value is there.

An Okafor/Nene frontcourt is overpaid as hell, but it looks pretty good on paper.

Is hell overpaid? I thought you could pretty much get in there for free.

Rumor: Cavaliers decline Anderson Varejao & #24 pick for the Warriors #7 pick
    Cleveland Cavaliers Golden State Warriors
    Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - 5:38pm

The Cleveland Cavaliers are not willing to pull the trigger on a deal which would send Anderson Varejao and the No. 24 overall pick to the Golden State Warriors for their lottery selection. The Cavs hold Varejao in very high regard in terms of leadership on-and-off the court. The franchise considers his veteran presence vital in their rebuilding effort.

You should classify this report as a rumor. ProBasketballDraft.com is a niche-site that often reports from draft workouts, but does not often break stories.
    According to probasketballdraft.com:

Trade talks among the teams in the top-10 seems to be heating up. The Cavaliers have approached Charlotte, New Orleans, and Golden State about acquiring their lottery picks. While it is common for teams to talk and gauge interest about potential deals the Cavs have been more aggressive. Sources say the Cavs have expressed the willingness to absorb salary in addition to trading the 24th pick. A potential stumbling block with New Orleans is the Hornets insistence thus far to have Trevor Ariza and Emeka Okafor included in a deal for the 10th pick. According to one league executive the Cavs could get a deal done with the Warriors if they trade Anderson Varejao and 24 but that the Cavs are unwilling to pull the trigger on that deal right now.
Cavs could have been insane with 4 top 10 picks in 2 yrs if they panned out.

Didn't everyone say the same exact thing before Hansbrough was drafted?
I'd guess not everyone, but those who did might have been on to something.

If that's true, Barbosa won't be re-signed. Darn, I "DON'T" want Chucker Crawford with a passion! He's nothing more than a Chucker... period. Portland is lucky he opted out.

Magic hire OKC's Rob Hennigan as new GM - Yahoo! Sports

    From the article:

Hennigan will immediately be confronted with making a decision on All-Star center Dwight Howard’s future. Howard is signed through the 2012-13 season, but another fallout with management has left him wanting a trade soon. Howard will push for a trade to the Brooklyn Nets before the June 28 NBA draft to clear the way for Nets free agent Deron Williams to re-sign with the Nets and partner in the new Brooklyn arena next season.

I just hink Bird likes Zeller, and he's the upperclassmen type that Bird usually likes. Pacers are trying to get bigger and get some depth behind West and Hibbert.

Pacers will either draft a big and sign score wing, or draft wing and sign big man. Collison and #26 or Collison and Hansbrough are likely the combination Pacers will offer, the pick will depend on who's available during free agency.

As we know trades are easier said than dome though

    Shouldn't your logic be reversed?

Free Agency is AFTER the draft....so wouldn't it make sense to go based off of what you were suggesting and draft the BPA ( whether it is a Wing or a Big Man ) and then go into Free Agency to see what other needs can by filled?

The Knicks are a great franchise and I live in New York City (each summer), so I'd definitely consider them if they were interested," Nash said.

Nash will explore all of his options in free agency.

"I want to wait and see what's actually on the table," he said. "I'm open and excited. I'm looking at every possibility right now. It sounds like there are a number of teams that are interested."

lets hope we are one of the teams

The article says "expected" to pursue him. SO I hope this assumption is proven to be false. IDK what it is about Bird, but once he sets his sights on a certain player, he holds onto that wish and continues to try to get that specific player. He seems to love both Crawford and Mayo and is going to try to obtain one of them again this off season. I'm with most on this board however, I DO NOT want Crawford. But I'd def think he's an upgrade over what Barbosa gave us in the playoffs.

I remember a time where a lot of people on this board wanted to bring him in last off season, I was not one of them, he is decent all around but I would not like to overpay him to be our back up guard, there are other options out there that would make a lot more sense.
    Why so SERIOUS

    Damn Phoenix

Assuming that is not Houston, a source told Sporting News, Dragic could wind up in a familiar surrounding anyway—back in Phoenix. Should the Suns lose Nash in free agency, Phoenix is expected to make a push to re-sign Dragic and give him the reins in coach Alvin Gentry’s offense. That would suit Dragic.

“I learned a lot in Phoenix, I had a very good time there,” he said. “I don’t know what is going to happen, but that is an organization I know, obviously, and they helped me a lot.”

Pretty sad with all the points out there in FA and none are linked to the Pacers in any way. A playoff team in need of a pg should be newsworthy, or at least worthy of some rumors. Pacers always get shafted.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

I get the impression that the team and front office do not see our PG position as one that needs an upgrade. But this is just an assumption based on quotes I've heard from Vogel and Bird. They seem to really like G.Hill as our starting PG

Bird seems to be obsessed when he likes a player to get them. Case in point... PEJA. To me, it's a case on obsessed stubborness. His view about Lance Stephenson falls into this category as well.
