This sounds great for the regular season but how abou the playoffs? Can we play that lineup against Miami?
    Why not?

DJ guards Chalmers and GH guards Wade in short spurts....if needed.

I think that he turned down a 21 mil / 3 year deal with the Bobcats and that the Nets offered 24 mil / 3 year deal.....so it would likely be starting at $8 mil per year.
He is becoming a double double machine. I don't know if the attitude concerns are for real or not, but he has turned himself into a nice player.

Am I the only one that wouldn't be shocked at all to see plenty of Augustin and Hill playing together in the backcourt at times? I think the FO's anticipating Augustin being more of just a general "scorer" than a true backup point. Augustin did pretty well in his time playing off the ball when Charlotte had Felton manning the point.
If you are to assume that Augustin will play ALL of his minutes at the PG spot....and that he'd average about 25 mpg at that spot....that would leave GH with 23+ mpg at the PG spot. I'm assuming that GH would then be playing about 6+ mpg at the backup SG spot to round out his total minutes around 30 mpg.

Either way....I'd fully expect an Augustin / GH backcourt that'd be on the floor...but for small periods of times.

He has....but we don't have the $$$ nor the minutes to justify going after him.

I like DJ but I don't think he can guard anybody.

Edit: this is how our lineup against Miami looks like if we want to go small, DJ on Chalmers, Hill on Wade, Danny or George on Lebron, West on Battie/Rashard and Hibbert on Bosh, the result will be the same.

Our young guys are only going to get better. If LBJ hadn't had the historic performance he did in game 4, the series was ours imo.

I mentioned this in another thread....but I'd only expect that DJ and GH would be on the floor for a minimal amount of time. The reality is that if we are to assume that DJ or GH will each play more than 24 mpg.......they will have to share some minutes on the floor together. My hope and expectation is that we will see DJ and GH on the floor at the same time but not too much time.

Right. In no way am I saying it'd be an ideal lineup or something, certainly not against Miami (we don't have an ideal lineup to beat Miami period btw). I'm saying it's something that I think could work fairly well at times, maybe 8ish minutes a night, something like that.

To be fair...have you actually watched DJ play enough to say that he can't guard anyone?

    or

Are you assuming that he can't guard anyone just because he's 6 feet nothing?

I just haven't see him play enough to know whether his defense is somewhat decent or that we are talking about Murphy-Like defense.

Even if DJ "can't guard anybody" its not like Collison could either. Its like people saying Nash wont be that good for LA cause he can't defend when he's replacing Steve Blake... DJ is definitely a better distributor, thats why we made the change.

im liking the Augustin pick up because he at least for a little bit had all the pressure of scoring on him even though the rest of his team was bad.

y'know how good Lebron is? The **** Dwight Howard's pulled is so, so, so much worse, but no one will remember it in like 3 years. The Decision will haunt Lebron until the day he dies. Dwight's making Lebron look GOOD. Lebron wants out, he makes it happen, however calous. No ********. Dwight wants out, well, we're living it.

btw, probably posted before... according to Stein/Ford:

Leuer will probably triple his salary or more if he gets cut. Such a waste.

re that trade, the Rockets are basically losing ALL their assets, except Motiejunas. They become the Magic without Jameer Nelson and Ryan Anderson. If that's what they are really offering...I'm surprised it's not a done deal yet.
    Funny thing I read.

Morey: "Welcome to Houston, Dwight! Meet your new teammates, Jason Richardson, Big Baby Davis, Chris Duhon, and Hedo Turkoglu!"

    Dwight: *facepalm*

I love your enthusiasm but LBJ would have had to have a broken leg and bed bound for the Pacers to win that series. If they had, Boston would have taken them out. It is fine to be optimistic but try to keep at least one foot in the real world. Orlando (because they didn't have Howard) and NY were the only teams in the East the Pacers could beat.......

I really have no clue what Houston is trying to do. Just insane. Howard will walk and they'll have absolutely nothing.

I agree with you about DJ's ability to guard anyone.

but mario chambers does happen to be one of the guys that he might actually be able to.

I'd say the Nets offer is pretty fair for his production.

I know this won't be a popular opinion but the McGee deal seems like a better deal than the Hibbert deal. I know people say he's a headcase but I don't know about that... people said the same thing about Bynum and Cousins and I don't think there is a person that wouldn't want either.

    4yrs 58mil
    5yrs 50mil

    29.8mpg 12.8pts 8.8rebs 2.0blks 1.7asts 0.5stls 2.0to's 49.7% - Hibbert
    27.4mpg 11.9pts 8.8rebs 2.5blks 0.6asts 0.6stls 1.7to's 53.3% - McGee 41gms w/ Nugs
    20.6mpg 10.3pts 5.8rebs 1.6blks 0.3asts 0.5stls 1.0to's 61.2% - McGee 20gms w/ Wiz

He must be the biggest of headcases if the Nuggets would get that much better of a deal for him. He's a year younger than Hibbert and obviously way more athletic. If that's what he walks away with, I'm kind of disappointed by the Hibbert offer. I know we had no choice but that seems like a good deal for the Nuggets. They went from trading a guy that was making 67mil over 5yrs and is about to turn 20 for a guy that will be making 50mil 5yrs and is only turn 24. They're putting up similar numbers as well. I just like the move the Nuggets made and think they'd be getting a bargain with McGee.
