Probably, and we won't do it for Scola.

I can't imagine Pritchard is shutting the door yet. I still think he'll try and shop Tyler and sign a better backup PF, whoever it may be.

Our mission was to improve our bench, but yet we really didn't? Replacing Lou with Ian isn't necessarily that massive of an improvement, as much as Lou wasn't that great of a pure center back up.

Augustin and DC provide the same exact type of skill set, and even more so in size. Augustin also comes from a losing program.

Gerald Green doesn't fit our team identity, isn't that great at defense despite improvements, and presents a very slight upgrade over Jones on the court. But off the court, can we really expect this guy to be as a locker room guy that Jones was for us?

We released Price. No third string point guard. We have no scoring punch off the bench. We have no back up shooting guard, unless we are relying on Lance Stephenson who has barely seen any time at all.

Hans was about as useful as a bag of dicks last year in the playoffs.

So we improved the bench? Really?

It's pretty clear to me that at some point this season Hansbrough is gonna get dumped. Even if is just for a second round pick or something. Don't think Pritch and Walsh like him.

Then perhaps you can explain it to me in simple terms, how making two seemingly lateral moves, and one move that is still up in the air both on the court and off (Green) is improving the bench?

You might also want to factor in the fact that Stephenson is never going to be a quality NBA player, and the fact that Tyler Hansbrough is now a drunk. :P

Meh, at worst the three bench moves are lateral, and one of them is only a 1 year contract. Seems pretty low risk to me. At best, Mahini ends up being a defensive force behind Hibbert, and Green and Augustin give you the scoring punch the bench has been lacking since Hansbrough moved to Derpistan in December of 2011. Seems like a worthy risk to me.

Green has no off court concerns. Far as I know anyway.

The biggest question that we have coming into this season is if Stephenson can give us the same production that Barbosa gave us last year.

And I honestly believe he's unable to do that.

I imagine that Hansbrough is going to be the backup PF....but as the 4th Big Man off the bench....behind Mahinmi in the Big Man rotation.....probably playing 12 mpg. With West and Hibbert playing about 30 mpg and Mahinmi playing probably 24 mpg.....that won't leave Hansbrough too much time.

Aren't you looking for Green to replace Barbosa's production in actuality? Plus Barbosa's production, while nice in the regular season, was a big steaming turd sandwich in the playoffs.

I would look for West to play more minutes this season. More of what we saw from him towards the end of this season and the playoffs and less of what we saw the first few months. I'm guessing his knee was finally getting close to 100% in the playoffs. Augustin and West in the PnR could be a good switch up.

If Green is replacing Barbosa's production from last year, who is our back up Small Forward? We all saw how the refs treat our team in the playoffs. Paul George and Danny Granger both had 4 or more fouls many times in that Heat series. Our only two wing players now are Stephenson and Green.

    I don't like that.

Green is our backup small forward and he will also be the primary wing scorer off the bench. Don't think of our bench guys as having positions, that's not the way to do it. Bench guys are more about what they do. Wing scoring, interior defense, rebounding, that's the way to think of a bench.

I have similar concerns, we don't have a backup 2 that can score, we don't have a backup SF that can play D(Don't trust on Green) and we don't have a defensive, rebounder big.

    Here is our bench:

DJ, Lance, OJ, Green, Tyler, Mahinmi, Pendergraph, I think we need more.

If I had my druthers, the one thing I would try to get for our bench is a rebounding power forward. I wish we could have gotten Reggie Evans somehow, he would be perfect. I'm not concerned about adding another wing scorer off the bench. I think Augustin will score well, and if Lance flames out, I think Green can carry both back up SG and SF minutes in the playoffs, plus Hill can play backup 2 guard for some minutes as well.

Am I the only one that wouldn't be shocked at all to see plenty of Augustin and Hill playing together in the backcourt at times? I think the FO's anticipating Augustin being more of just a general "scorer" than a true backup point. Augustin did pretty well in his time playing off the ball when Charlotte had Felton manning the point.

This sounds great for the regular season but how abou the playoffs? Can we play that lineup against Miami?

kind of funny how since Mahimi is a pacer some people try to make him sound good to make themselves feel better. The guy might even that much better than Hansbrough. I rather play Plumlee over him. Gerald Green and Augustin were good moves but we still need that alpha dog

Why wouldn't GH play some backup SG minutes?

I imagine that he will be splitting time at the PG and SG spots with some 21mpg at the PG spot / 9mpg at the backup SG split. I don't imagine that we will have a 10 man rotation......I expect that it would be a 9 man rotation where GH/PG/Granger/DJ/Green will be sharing the bulk of the minutes at the PG/SG/SF rotation. Any minutes that Lance will get will be in garbage minutes.

I think that he turned down a 21 mil / 3 year deal with the Bobcats and that the Nets offered 24 mil / 3 year deal.....so it would likely be starting at $8 mil per year.

Honestly I've heard some good things about him from people other than Pacer fans.
