Brooklyn has reached agreement on a 4-year, $61 million max deal with Brook Lopez, league source tells Y! Sports.

The Hibbert contract is looking good right now.
so basically, he got an extra 3 mil for waiting half a day.
    Not bad.

I dont think so more than 1 other team was going to sign him to a max sheet. The Nets have no choice. If they dont give him that they have no C and have no way to get one they had no choice.

Brook Lopez, Roy Hibbert get max deals, officially setting the bar for 7-footers with potential.

Totally agree neither one is worth near the max but both teams really had no choice.

could it have to do with Lopez having a higher rookie contract and the percentages being used to calculate max contract automatically increases this or is it that they paid him a little extra for trade purposes or for putting up with all the trade rumor shiot.

Has nothing to do with his rookie contract.

It's the latter. The max salary is based on years in the league, and nothing more. The $3 million is because the Nets gave him 7.5% raises as opposed to 4.5% raises.

They did whatever they could to still be able to trade him instead of him signing an offer sheet somewhere and then needing his permission to trade him after they match.

yes, but he's restricted. They gave him 3 mil more than Hibbert. There's no need whatsoever.

The only explanation is that they asked him not to sign the sheet yet, because they were still hoping to trade him for Dwight today. The agent agreed to wait a few hours, in exchange for an extra 3 mil in case the deal falls through.

I'm confused.....are the Nets still able to trade Brook to the Magic after reaching this agreement?

So, they're out on Brand, right? Unless they amnesty Haywood. That's a big chance to take.

Speaking of, the bidding process for Brand is right now right? How long is that, like 2 days?

To wherever they want, unlike if he signed an offer sheet and they matched.

yes they can he just cant be traded until Jan 15th. Dwight may be a Rocket by then but if not I expect them to renegade talks at the trade deadline.

That was another perk of him not signing the bobcats sheet he can be traded sooner now and doesnt have the no trade clause for a year like he would have.

I am very tired and should be in bed so I might not be thinking clearly, but I believe if a team signs there own player they can be traded immediately if there is no trade clause in contract. If a team signs there own player by matching an offer sheet they can be traded the same time frame as signing a FA. A rookie can be traded whenever before a contract has been signed, then there is a 30 day waiting period from the time the contract was signed. This is what I remember.

Trade Rumor (ESPN): Blazers & T-Wolves discussing possible S&T that would send Nicolas Batum to Minnesota for two future first round picks.

A pretty good consolation prize, depending on lottery protection, if you ask me.
