Pirlo's goal was magnificent but that was a weak foul that Balotelli went down on. They never mentioned it again, but that could have easily been a play on. Italy never really threatened to score after that in open play. They probably deserved the draw and will go through by beating Ireland in their next game.

Spain opening a can of butt kicking. Yipes.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

What a great game for Torres and Spain. If Torres can keep his confidence high, they will be unstoppable.

Agreed. Spain looked very strong, but is it because of the competition in their group? We'll see what England has since Rooney will be available. I don't know that he will make that much of a difference. I would never dismiss Germany, either. Very disappointed in the Italian side as well as the Netherlands.

There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."

I believe Rooney is suspended for the Sweden game like he was for the France game. He'll be back for the last game against Ukraine.

Gotta give a shoutout to the Irish fans - down 4-0 and they were still singing their hearts out - what an awesome atmosphere...about time

+1 on the Irish fans...Fantastic. They were having a great time while being dissected by Spain and by all accounts were equally as great out on the town.

The Irish were great fans, and Cesc Fabregas had an even greater goal

Just a fantastic game. Not just the goals but the momentum swings as well. Really great. Too bad for Sweden--they're better than this. Sorry to see Ibra exit so early.

Wow! What a pisser of a game. Much respect to Sweden who really came out and attacked in the second half. Very impressed. I am almost ready to believe in England. Almost. Let's see one more good one out of them before I buy in.

    terrible keeper
Yeah. He hardly played in his own team. Sifakis is a good keeper though. The only reason that Chalkias started was due to Sifakis' being injured earlier this season.

Even if Greece doesn't win, it's been a great game, and prime evidence of why this is the best tournament.

It's not a bad team, actually. The red card really hurt because it unsettled the defense in both the first and second games. And I think they've been the better team for the majority of all three of their games. If I were Russia, I'd be more frustrated that the Czech team got by (and first!).

On a side note: this Papadopoulos kid is something special. No idea why he wasn't starting the first game.
