2-1 makes it seem much closer than it actually was.

If Greece could score 2 against that German defense, no surprise the Italians could too.

you know - so far in this tournament (its almost over ) I never felt like the team that has falled behind to have the confidence to get back in to the game...the only game which seems to have came close to that was Sweden Vs England - the one game which i missed watching it.

For example - as soon as Germany fell down 1-0 - their body language had this panicked feel and their play showed their nerves were being wrecked - maybe the psychological defeat of having not been able to beat Italy the last 29 or so matches when it counts put more pressure on them - or something completely else - but it just felt like the teams in general just never gave that fight throughout the tournament...

what is everyone's predictions for the final?

I had picked Spain to win the final a month ago - but that was only cause I was expecting them to face Germany...now I'd have to say that Italy will edge Spain 1-0 as Spain has troubles against Italy - the same way the Germans did.

I really worry about teams that don't have their lineups set. Though it is really important to make adjustments, I thought the Germans got too fancy. I feel the same way about the Spaniards. Their false 9 is not doing anything to that Italian defense.

Germany deserved the goal. Gigi Buffon screwed up badly in the early first half and the ball luckily for him bounced out or to a teammate to put it out. It was closer than you are making it seem.

And my pick is 1-1, then 2-2 in extra time.
    scorers:
    Jordi Alba, Xavi Hernandez (ESP)
    Mario Balotelli, Andrea Pirlo (ITA)

    Spain wins in penalty kicks.

I'm afraid Spain will just confiscate the ball for 119 minutes and then score in the last minute after having literally bored the Italians (and the people watching) to death...

I understand you like Germany, but that was not closer than it seems. There were 3 instances late in the 2nd where Italy had a chance to completely put the game away and Germany got super lucky that they didn't.

Germany made too many roster changes and it bit them. They didn't look good at all, and who can blame them when you don't know if you're even going to play.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Not disagreeing with roster changes, but Buffon literally went up for a punch then didn't hit it, and someone happened to block it from going in. That just as easily makes it 2-2, thus starting extra time. look at 0:24 specifically. Incredibly lucky for Italy that it wasn't 2-2 in extra time.

I'm hoping for a great game first and foremost.

I don't really care who wins, though I guess Italy seems to me to deserve it a bit more for its overall performance during the tournament.

BEAUTIFUL pass by Xavi Hernandez, great finish by Jordi Alba. Nothing Gigi Buffon could do.

Well, let me state the obvious: Spain deserved to win this final. What an incredible run for the Spaniards! And they'll still be competitive in 2014 in Brazil! That's just scary.

Unfair for Italy with their injuries, but Spain was never losing that game anyway. Over 500 minutes without conceding, that's incredible.

all odds was actually lined up against Spain with regards to Statistics - and they managed to screw all those statistics away with a fashionable victory - the finale was indeed a bit too one sided for my taste (well before Italy fell down to 10 men) but you gotta wonder if Spain was just taking it easy all the way up to the Final - brilliant performance - they were dissecting the Azzuri's defense like it was frog day at bio class.

First time a nation has won back-to-back-to-back cups - and honestly - considering how young the Spanish team is - there is no reason to believe they can't be one of the favorites for the World Cup 2014 as well...should be interesting to watch
