On the 'game atmosphere' theme Bellisimo brings up: Did anybody else notice the many, many empty seats for the England vs. France game? I thought the whole competition was sold out?

Also, I may be crazy but I think there's a chance Ukraine and Sweden could be the two teams coming out of group D. They both showed a lot more than England and France did, and I don't see England beating Sweden or France beating Ukraine (in Donetsk) if they both play the way they did today.

Czech Republic scored 2 goals in the starting 6 minutes against Greece. Things are not looking good.

It's a good thing that I don't care enough about football

The injuries and the suspension are just too much for Greece. They just don't have enough offensive firepower.

Our main problem is the inability to create chances and take advantage of the space that we're given.

Oh and Chalkias is one of the worst goalkeepers we could have invited to our NT. And yet he is the one starting

Greece are in big trouble now. Probably unlikely they move on
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Well, we have to beat Russia now to move on. That's unlikely but you never know. If Chalkias does not play, anything can happen

Greece should just call Nikopolidis out of retirement. Good games tomorrow: Denmark-Portugal, Holland-Germany.

Holland - Germany should be huge. You have to think the Dutch will come out firing. It would be nice if Van Persie decided to join his team for the second game.

I didn't see the game for a wedding I was at, but I thought their striker was Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and that was why RVP wasn't playing or playing well because he was forced to be a creator not a finisher. But again I couldn't see the Netherlands game so please correct me if I'm wrong

it would be awesome if there were some sort of a penalty when a team defended with 10 players behind the ball for more than 10 minutes in a game...its really killing the flow of the game when the teams are packing all their defenders into the box.

I really hope we get to watch some proper games tonight. Let there be some goals and some action back and forth - none of this fortified football.

Van Persie started and stayed on the whole match. He was joined by Huntelaar and, eventually, Kuyt as well for the final 20 or so minutes.

What a goal by Denmark! Portugal up 2-1, but this makes it an interesting game.

Denmark-Portugal, best game so far of the tourney. That was a fun fun match

So far. I fully expect Germany and Holland to play a hell of a game, and hopefully Germany wins and clinches a berth in the knockout round!

Was gutted for Denmark earlier. Thought they did enough and it would have been brilliant if they got the draw after Ronaldo bottled it.

Tough task for my country Ireland tomorrow.

    Feed. Lol.

Have to laugh at Americans using such terms in soccer.

Nice strike from Gomez but Stelkenburg went down way too early.

    before the tourney started, i thought people were being much too fancy with their picks;

i thought holland and spain in the final were clear choices.

    so much for that.

    edit: hold on, 2-1.

good night of football last night...although someone should wake Netherlands up...they're sleepwalking through the tourney to become the biggest disappointment of the tourney.

lets hope for another night of quality football tonight...i expect a draw between Croatia and Italy while Spain taking the W against the Irish...

Italy having trouble holding onto a one goal advantage, oh the sweet irony... Croatia is good, from what I saw (only the second half), and I thought they even could have won the game if they had played some of their late game counter attacks better.
