Thread: What about Kevin Garnett?

    Default What about Kevin Garnett?

Pacers need another big that can play both the 4 and the 5.

Pacers have about $10M in cap space easily for the next couple of years.

Garnett is not going to be looking for a long contract. Plus doesn't the 'over 36' rule apply?

Why not offer a contract like David West's. $20M/2yrs?

From what I hear, he already has great chemistry with Tyler Hansbrough and A.J. Price.

You can even introduce him to your rookies....

It wasn't about being the team everyone loved, it was about beating the teams everyone else loved.

Garnett isn't going to want to finish his career in Indiana. The only place he is playing next year is Boston. They will work something reasonable out.

Garnett is a loyal guy to his teams (he really only kind of pleaded to leave Minnesota after 2-3 years of terrible play) so I don't see him leaving Boston unless the C's don't want him back at all.
"It's just unfortunate that we've been penalized so much this year and nothing has happened to the Pistons, the Palace or the city of Detroit," he said. "It's almost like it's always our fault. The league knows it. They should be ashamed of themselves to let the security be as lax as it is around here."

We shouldn't spend big money on a backup big. We need to aim for a point guard! And I'd rather have Camby as a backup!!

West would be the backup imo, not KG.

    I'd love KG here.
But my main concern is that we aren't likely to have 10 mil in cap again for many years. Unless we blow up our team.
So I'd rather get a piece who we know will be here (and productive) for at least 3-4 years. And in the ideal scenario, someone whose expiring would be tradable (i.e. won't retire and go off the books). It just makes the most sense long term.

It'll be interesting to see where in fact KG goes, if the Celtics blow it all up (which is likely). Yes, he's loyal, but there's no point in him hanging around in Celticland purely on sentiment, when he's still a highly productive big man. Can't see him joining his adversaries in the Heat, nor LA with Kobe, what contenders does that leave the Bulls (to reunite with Thibodeau)? Thunder? the Spurs? Maybe he finishes in Minnesota where he started to be the Robin to Kevin Love's Batman? Unfortunately, I can't see him in Indiana. He's not coming here to be a backup, and I don't think West came here to be one either.

Spurs add KG, a scary idea. And he'd be an awesome fit, too.

No. I hate KG's attitude, whether it works to our benefit or not. He's cocky, he's arrogant, he's a douche. His demeanor would not be good for the face of our team, and I have a feeling that all he would do is destroy our chemistry from the inside out.

Besides that, I doubt KG leaves Boston. He'd take less money to stick with his former-championship team, or at least, he should. If you want to teach a lesson in loyalty, and prove you're not a total douche, then take less money to rejoin the team and mentor the youngsters that get drafted. That could lead to an assistant coach position, if that's what he desires.

Our arena, their arena, Rucker park, it just doesn't matter. We're bigger, longer, younger, faster, and hungrier.

KG instead of Boozer on the Bulls would be interesting to see. A front line of Deng-KG-Noah would be pretty good defensively.

I like KG. Plays hard every minute of every game. I love his passion, even with it's consequences.

If a former superstar is going to sign with the Heat for the minimum this summer it will be KG... And the D-Bag index in MIA will skyrocket to a record high!

Honestly, I can't really see KG leaving the Celtics. I believe he'll just resign for something comparable to David West's salary. I'll be genuinely surprised if he signed for a different team.

I agree. I have a love/hate relationship about KG. I love his passion and intensity as a player, but hate it when we're on the receiving end, lol.

In Hansbrough and Danny we have a pair of awesome recruiters.
