Default Golden State targeting Danny Granger and other small forwards

    http://www.iamagm.com/news/2012/05/3...medium=twitter

Various times in the last few weeks, there have been reports that the Golden State Warriors are targeting a major upgrade at small forward this offseason. The seventh overall pick in the 2012 Draft will be in play. Just a few days ago, Warriors consultant Jerry West spoke openly about the need for the franchise to add contributing veterans to the roster.

    According to contracostatimes.com:
The Warriors will also explore using the No. 7 pick to get a veteran. .... Golden State has long since had interest in Philadelphia's Andre Iguodala, who is exactly the playmaking athlete the Warriors need at small forward. Other small forwards high on their list, according to league sources, are Portland's Nick Batum, Indiana's Danny Granger and Memphis' Rudy Gay. And don't be surprised if the Warriors make a play for Atlanta forward Josh Smith.

Unless Golden St wants to part with #7 and Steph Curry (which they won't) I say no thanks.

They have nothing we would want. That they would be wiling to give up.

#7 for Granger? I think that's an easy pass. Here are the past #7's. I think Danny is above that average...and I'm not a big Granger fan. I am open to trading a known and younger asset for Granger...but not a chance.

David Lee + no.7 for West and Granger. They amnesty Biedrins and provide us with extra 7-8 mil in cap space.
We have 17m+ in cap even if we keep Hill.
I guess GSW wouldn't be interested though.

Curry+ pick for Danny? I think I can do that.

My guess is the Warriors will offer #7 + R.Jefferson's contract to Philly for Igoudala.

Meh.....kind of a whatever trade to me (for both teams) but I could see the two teams talking about that.

Curry + pick for Danny and DC would be a more reasonable trade.

uhhh....no. I think both Danny and West are immensely more valuable to us that Lee or the 7.

Yep. Get that outta here. But West for the #7 is about right for this team. It would hurt our chances next year, but it's still worth it long term.

I'm not sure. Especially looking at the list of former #7s.

I can't imagine Indiana wanting to do that, let alone worrying about how GSW feels.

I'd consider Danny for #7 and Lee, though. Lee'd be terrific off the bench.

are they? you aren't trading for one of those things, it's both of them + significant cap. It opens up a ton of options this summer to take the next step. But it doesn't seem to make much sense from GSW point of view.

Lee off the bench? I think he starts over West, either way I would not mind trading Danny+ Tyler for Lee+ #7

Granger's regressed too much to be worth #7 and Lee.

Sure. I just think it would suck from GSW perspective. They wouldn't upgrade in talent, nor would their roster get more complete, they'd just get a similar level player on a shorter contract. They'd be basically paying #7 to save some money.

If GS can somehow get Harrison Barnes with that #7 pick, I think people would want that pick
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

No way they are trading Seth for Danny straight up, why would they throw the 7th in there as well. 7th for Danny would be interesting.

    Scenarios,

If Drummond drops to 7 I would really have to think about doing this trade, I would also be somewhat interested in PJIII, but not as much, Also Lillard would be intersting but not sure if he would be worth danny at this point for the Pacers.

If we grabbed the 7th I think I would consider 3 main possibilities.

Select Drummond, trade Portland for the 11th 40th and 41st pick, trade Houston for the 14th and 16th.

Whatever player that is taken will be a risk but it will open up about 7-8 million as well to go after other free agents as well.
    Why so SERIOUS

Are you people joking? David Lee is garbage. We are not rebuilding here folks, wow would this make us better? It wouldn't, you want to wait for the #7 pick to get good just like we are waiting on PG? Goodness.....David Lee, got a nice contract by playing no defense what so ever. He was never been on a winning team. David Lee? Seriously?

The only way Bird is going to trade Granger is if he is able to deal for a great 2 guard that would allow him to move George to the 3. Otherwise the real trade value on this team is Paul George. He will be traded before Granger is.

I am no Granger fanboy, but I think LeBron had a little to do with Danny's performance. The last three games against Orlando he averaged 24ppg and over 40% from three. He also had a strong April. No, he's no superstar but I don't really think he's regressed much.
