You'll understand why if you ever saw the original 1954 epic Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa, or it's American successor The Magnificent Seven.

It's one of those shows that you really love, but you never ever want to watch twice.

Basilisk is another great example of this.
Basilisk is next on my list believe it or not. A friend recommended it. I did watch the first episode awhile ago, but it never drew me in. I'll watch it after this series.

Well, Samurai 7 is certainly better than Trigun. Trigun was another disappointment...started off great and fell flat at the end.

Any thoughts on Samurai Deeper Kyo?

Believe it or not, never got into that one.

Trigun finished poorly, but it wasn't given a lot of time to tell a deeper story. The manga did a better job with more time.

4 more episodes to watch of Samurai 7. Kinda sad now that 1 member is dead and another ran off.

....so, part 4 of the battle of Trost....wow. This is high end stuff. That was cinematic good. Just amazing. I could watch episode 8 ten more times. It's a ****ing masterpiece.

Watch it now. The battle of Trost arc just ended. Great jumping in point.

    Told you.

Again...it's a 50 year old formula. Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven ended roughly the same way.

It really is a great show. The story, the animation, the OST. Everything about it is great.

So...I just got done re-watching Slam Dunk on crunchyroll, and I find that I appreciate it more as time goes on. The little fundamental details are really cool. So many references to late 80's/early 90's NBA. What a wonderful series. Too bad they couldn't animate the second half of the manga.

If anyone here hasn't seen it, let me know and I'll hook you up with a day pass.

Ι have started it but I left it at episode 5. It really seems like a great anime but I just cannot get used to the animation. I'll get used to it in time, though, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it

Thoughts on the new Shingeki no Kyojin episodes?

Attack on Titan just keeps getting better..,the production values are off the charts at this point. The new opening clip is cinematic quality...

On a side note, I recently picked up A Certain Magical Index and its sister series, A Certain Scientific Railgun (still ongoing). Very cool premise, even though much of the cast isn't original. It was worth the effort to get caught up.

Watching Soul Eater. Not sure how far in Netflix will take me. The Kishin has just been released and his madness has started to take hold of Stein.

Just started to read Fairy Tale. Only about 10 chapters in, so very early still.

The Soul Eater anime has nothing but disappointment in store for you. Like most short-lived anime based on an ongoing manga, they had to go away from the source material halfway through and make up their own ending. And oh god, what a convoluted ending... One of my top 5 worst anime endings of all time.

Fairy Tail is addicting. You'll go through a lot of interesting arcs before they run out of good stories to tell and start aiming for the lowest common denominator (**** it, lets just draw softcore porn!). I've long since lost faith in it.

Soul Eater was a complete disappointment. The ending was just stupid. What a waste, because that could have been a great series.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

I don't see how. They didn't have any source material to go on after the first dozen episodes. The Soul Eater manga is just now finishing up, and the anime ended what, 5 years ago?

I really hate Soul Eater actually. I kept hoping it would get better and that it just started slow. I've given up on it actually.

Fairy tale seems like a mix between Naruto (brash, loud lead) and One Piece (for the art direction). Haven't cared for it for the most part...but it's still early. I'll read more this weekend.
