No way can Upshaw play NT. Not even close. He's a pass rush specialist all the way.

I think the pick will end up being Worthy or Konz.

Could definitely see us trading down as well.

I am down to take Cordy Glenn. I wanted Fleener but I worry less about weapons and more about the inability to throw from your back. A good QB makes weapons more so than the other way around. Take Cordy and plug him in at RT from day one.

I change my mind... if we can't get Fleener I want us to get janoris jenkins... we need a huge talent upgrade at corner and I just realized he's actually a top 10 talent in this draft... on the board cuz character issues.. ill take my chances to have a big time corner.

That's a very true and good statement. Peyton made practice squad goons look like reputable receiving options all the time. Weapons are easier to immediately "see" an impact with. You don't usually notice the D-Line and O-Line unless they are painfully bad so it's a less sexy option. I guess when it comes down to it, I won't be disappointed in either direction the Colts decide to go.

I don't think we will go after a center after signing Satele.

I am so excited, we should get Glenn, but i want Fleener because of chemistry

    Damnit!
I feel the exact same way. I would love to see Fleener, but Glenn would be an amazing O linr addition. Glenn, with Castanzo and the other cat we drafted last year...

We need to think offensive line first imo and Cordy Glenn could make our line really good.

Fleener could fall to the 3rd round.

Courtney Upshaw would be a great pickup too. Plays defensive end in 4-3 and outside lb in 3-4.

Cordy Glenn should be the pick if the Rams don't get him. Not often you'll get a chance to get a talent on the O line, like him, in the 2nd round. If they get him, the offensive line is set for the future. That would be huge for Luck.

I dont see any scenario where Fleener falls to the 3rd round. Im a little surprised he fell this far.

Hes the best TE in the draft. No way he makes it all the way through another round.

Btw, Vontaze Burfict can probably be had in the fifth round or so. Indianapolis needs to get this guy. I've watched him for two years. He has major major talent.

Some concerns emerged about Fleener as the draft approached:

He could definitely continue to fall.

At first, I liked the idea of getting Fleener, but the more I considered, the Colts have a lot bigger needs than tight end. Hell, we could draft the other Stanford tight end next year. #34 is so important, that I think we need to get someone in a key position in the trenches, o-line or d-line. Would still like to see us grab a WR in the 3rd though.

My current prediction however is that we'll trade down to the mid-2nd and pick up an extra 3rd rounder or 4th and 5th or something. A lot of holes to fill.

i wouldnt mind if we traded down from 34 there's still some quality players left.

No way you trade from 34. There are atleast 4 potential pro bowlers just sitting there.

Unless someone agreed to give you some stupid haul, you keep #34. The players still available are just too good.

I'm with you on the "at least" part...I'd argue that there are like a dozen guys left that could easily make a pro bowl...which is why I'd consider trading down. If there's a guy Grigson/Pagano's in love with, by all means take him. But if you can get still get a quality player ten picks later, why not grab some extra picks in the process?

I cooled on Fleener as I realized this isn't Peyton's Colts. We are going to run much more, and Fleener can't block. He fit the old Colts, but we aren't those guys anymore.

Hmmm.... Good point... Now im begining to question my whole strategy..

I wanted Fleener cuz he's supposed to be the next Gronk/Graham type TE.. But he may not be and blocking may be more important now than it used to be.

I won't be crazy disappointed if we get Fleener, I just don't think TE is the first hole we need to fill in the Luck era. Get the kid some pass protection or get a piece to help our switch to a 3-4 D.

ITs a catch-22. You can have great pass protection and limited options to throw to then you will hold on to the ball too long and the pass protection will break down no matter how good it is.

Luck really does need both and a TE is good way for a young Qb to get the ball out of his hands quickly so he doesn't get hit very often.

I watched QB Camp when Luck was on it and i took it that he likes to play with a FB.. A FB who goes out is a lot like a TE.. It's a safety blanket. Not sure if the Colts will start using FB's more or not, but it sure seems like they will, as they started to do so more towards the end of the year. (Even tho that wasn't Pagano)

I'm starting to ease myself into a better position on who we take.. Last night I wanted Fleener and only Fleener.. Right now I would be pretty happy with any of about 5 picks.. CB, LB/DT, WR, TE, OL

Why? The whole league has moved to being a passing league with only minimal running..... But it would be just like the Colts to do every thing differently than every other team......

He's a straight-line, build-up player. All these reports about him being an athlete and this and that, they're assuming that because he ran fast. He's really just a red-zone, jump-ball player."
Any scout that just considers Fleener a jump ball TD player is an idiot IMO. Gessh one scout compared him to Todd Heap of all people.

He may be a bad blocker but you can coach guys up still. ITs not like he is a finished product at 22.
