I'm not gonna say "f you Bill" since he was responsible for a very successful stretch of Colts football... even if the end of his tenure didn't finish too strong...

But, he clearly preferred a cover 2 defense, so of course he wouldn't like this pick. His "thoughts"' on this subject don't seem to be unbiased.

My personal thoughts on Chapman: I'm concerned about his ability to stay healthy. I'm concerned about his pass rush. But... he did anchor a top-ranked D-line in Alabama... played through a very serious injury (I don't know whether to think he's tough or just stupid). The scouting report on him, however, was not very glowing.

So he's got a lot of areas to improve... but what do you expect with a 5th-round choice. Hopefully he pans out.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

I thought it was comical when he mentioned "we would not have wanted josh chapman" F YOU BILL, YOU'RE THE REASON WE SUCK!
He is also the reason we went to two Super Bowls and set records for winning for many years....... If the new management does 1/2 as well, we should all be delighted.......

He drafted well a few times...he seemed to think he was the smartest guy in the room sometimes...

From what I'm seeing there are a lot of little negative things being said about chapman here and there.. But at the same time everyone says he should be gone by the end of the third round. Great pick for the fifth.

I'm just slightly worried about his past injuries. Hopefully he stays healthy

That's because he almost always is the smartest guy in the room and has the track record to prove it!

He built up 3 different teams and should be automatic for the HOF. He didnt start to suck here until he let his son get involved.

Instead of trashing Bill Polian, we should all be saying thank you and wish him well in his second career. AND MOVE ON!

Yeah, I tend to agree. It's a fifth round pick. If he didn't have injury concerns or holes in his game he would have gone much higher. It's a risk worth taking, if you can even call it a risk in round 5.

Why is it that two of our best coaches so-called retired but wound up on other teams? BP eliminated any voices that could question anything he and son did. He was good at drafting for the Colts' needs but too many second and third round picks just didn't work out.

Chapman had a torn ACL, and missed one game to rest his knee. In that one game Georgia Southern ran for over 300 yards against Alabama.

    Just sayin.

    Back to offense I guess

Mark me as disappointed. I'm sure both Carter and Brown are way better than this guy

Ballard is a FB. He will block for our RBs and protect Luck. Again, I have no problem with that pick. It's not sexy, it's not a weapon, it's not a position of need, but it's all part of building a team.

Edit: He is a FB, right? That's what ESPN's DraftTracker says...

My ESPN DraftTracker says RB for me. As does every other place I look.

This guy loves our draft, and it's the place I look at most.

Luck did very well in this draft. Grigson went out and got him a team.

Next year they draft defense and have the bucks for free agents.

I have no problem whatsoever with what we have picked. When you have as many holes as we do, you pick the best player available. We can be more picky next year.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

I think they are doing it right. I am not sold on Luck but you have to give him a chance to succeed.... Now if they will just get him an offensive line that will keep him upright.......

What's really funny is that pretty much every person with football intelligence I know thinks Luck is the next Peyton. That makes me think maybe you are the opposite

Then you need to read more. Luck has detractors. Bill Parcells, Phil Sims and Brian Billick to name a few...

I think Peyton is that unique so I'm hoping that Luck is just really good.

well, you named a few...congrats. less than 1% of NFL analysts and fans aren't Luck fans. That's proven a lot to me and I'm sure everyone else.

    What was the 99% thinking.

What's sad is how elitist this guy feels..."my opinion is different, it must be correct because of these rare cases..." literally just described this guys opinion. Remember that bill parcells thought. Chad henne was the next big thing...
