    Default Thank you Barbosa

This guy has been a class act from day one and its undeniable how much of an impact he has made...I am sold and more than willing for us to keep our name on his jersey for a very long time...I thought he was going to do the Peja route and im glad to say i was wrong...Anyone else agree we should lock him up?

Barbosa is exactly what we were looking for in the offseason. He is a scorer, a defender, and he has the perfect balance between looking to score and getting rid of the ball when there's nothing there.

He's been huge for us, and I hope we keep him around.

I hope we can keep him around. We have a lot of decisions to make in the offseason. What's everybody's priorities?

    1. Roy Hibbert
    2. George Hill
    3. Leandro Barbosa
    4. Lou Amundson
    5. Fesenko
    6. A.J. Price

I don't think we will be able to sign everyone obviously. But if we can resign 3 of the top 4 I'd be estatic.

Other than Roy, everything else depends on the success/failure of signing a star free agent. If we fail... resigning everyone won't be an issue, except that we'll be locked in as a good team, not a great one.

This is an unprecedented offseason for the Pacers. In Ye Olden Days before the Simons, the team had no money, and since then, the focus has always been grow from the draft and trades.

There will be roughly 1000 posts this summer on all this, lol.

But I have always liked Leandro. Thought he was a perfect fit for bench scoring, and he sure looks the part. One has to admire the pickups of West, Hill, Amundson, and Barbosa.

The only one that may seem questionable in future years is Hill -- we gave up a real player when Kawhi Leonard fell. And it's possible that Hill will turn out to be a rental. Nonetheless, it's rather obvious that West and Hill have changed this team's character from adolescent to young adult, and that will pay dividends even if Hill's tenure is short.

I wanted Barbosa for a long time(since he was in Phoenix) and I hope we keep him for a long time, no many has noticed yet but Barbosa is not only a good scorer and defender but he is also clutch, the guy gets better in the 4th quarter.

I haven't noticed that he gets better in the 4th, but I will say he has ice water in his veins. He doesn't hesitate at all to shoot...which is what you need from a guy with his skills. He really is a huge, huge boost to the bench. Once Collison returns, I really hope we don't see Price out there. Leandro is at another level as compared to Price. He's really around Collison/Hill level IMO...maybe a small notch below.

Barbosa makes $7M now and probably looking for that same kind of money in the future. Hill turned down a $7M extension. Now maybe Hill is angling for less per year and more years. But do you think Bird will give up the $$ it will take to sign Hibbert, Hill and Barbosa? Amundson, Fresenko and Price won't cost much so maybe they get signed.

His defense has been the biggest surprise. He's a pretty smart team defender and reads developing situations very well, thus a lot of his steals. This makes it possible to ride out his cold scoring spurts. He fits in better than I would have hoped.

I sure hope Hill doesn't become a rental because while Leonard was redundant with Paul, he's still talented, cheap and an asset. At worst you could lose him like Hill, except it would be in trade.

Price will be getting "roster filler" money maybe (depends on teams like Lakers) so hopefully he can be kept. I guess we will see what happens when the 500 FA threads kick in.

I'd be happy to keep Barbosa under the right circumstances but he wasn't brought in here to spend our free agent cap space on. Signing Barbosa is secondary and needs to wait until Bird goes after a starting level pg and or another 4/5 followed by resigning Hibbert. If we still have the money to spend then we should try to keep Barbosa. I don't want Hill or Barbosa for 7 mil, but for the right price I'd like to see both players remain with the team.

If Barbosa stays longer, I'm getting his jersey.
