    Default Colts cut White

Blair White got cut which I didn't see coming. I guess we are either signing another WR soon or drafting one.

The purging of old project players brought in under the Polian Regime continues.

This afternoon, we got word via Albert Breer of NFL.com that the Colts have released former Michigan State receiver Blair White, who was an undrafted free agent brought in during the 2010 season. That year, he caught 36 balls for 355 yards and five touchdowns. In 2011, he was injured much of the season, and had no catches.

The loss of White means the Colts only have Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, and Donnie Avery as viable wide receivers heading into the 2012 season. Apologies to guys like Quan Cosby and Jeremy Ross, but they'll be lucky to play in preseason.

The departure of White likely means the Colts are targeting a receiver in this draft. Players like Rutgers Mohamed Sanu and South Carolina's Ashlon Jeffery should still be on the board at pick No. 34 in the second round. Things could get interesting if Stanford tight end Coby Fleener falls to the second round. Brody Eldridge is the only true tight end they have on the roster.
The Colts also have a big need as nose tackle that they need to fill.

I think we will draft one in the second or third round.. Was a surprise to me as well, hard worker and solid route runner. Injuries may have played a role.

I think the 4th wr has to be a good special teams guy. Just securing punts isn't enough IMO. He also didn't have very strong hands and couldn't run after the catch very well.

Blair White wasn't very good, and Manning made guys off the street look like probowlers. I can't imagine how bad he would be without Manning.

Good hands but too slow IMO. He would be great on third down but I don't think he's early 2nd round worthy. Hill OR Jeffery would be my choice.

Yeah, Blair was never really a NFL starting quality WR, if it was not for Peyton he would have never existed. Best thin about him was his route running hard work and hands, but he needed a lot more than that to really be a starter for any NFL team, just way too many short comings.
    Why so SERIOUS

obviously not a huge talent but I'm surprised to see them cut someone from a position with so few other players on the roster... I guess this all but locks in the fact that we are drafting 1, maybe even 2 WR come draft day.

I have said all along I thought the Colts were going to go WR at pick 34. No reason to back off of that now.

If Jeffrey falls to the 2nd round I like him a lot, unless for some reason Fleenor falls down there, then we have a pretty good dilemma. I would have to think we look at receiver at the 2nd round and another 1-2 in the latter rounds of the draft. It should be an exciting time for the Colts this draft. We have a lot of holes to fill and it will be interesting if we stick with our picks or trade down a little to get more draft picks.

I know our D is garbage, but Luck at #1, Fleener at #34, and a WR in the 3rd would be my dream draft.
