Default How To Trick An Entire Mall Into Thinking You’re Famous, Even If You’re A Nobody

Last weekend Thomas Elliot and his friends went to a Virginia mall with the intent of tricking everyone into thinking Thomas was a famous celebrity. Not only did the plan work, but Thomas Elliot’s about to be an actual Internet celebrity because this video’s going viral. From the Youtube description on the video:
Last Saturday we went to a popular mall in Virginia and conducted a bit of a social experiment. Using his real first and middle name, and with the help of just a few staged people, tons of people believed Thomas was a famous actor, including mall security. The mall assigned us a security detail who escorted us everywhere and helped close stores for the supposed celebrity. They also took us through private corridors to avoid the frenzy. Our cameras were quickly shut down, and most of our footage was captured with a single iphone. The following is just a taste of all the autographs, pictures, and people who wanted get close to all the commotion. Do something fun today.
Watch the video and you’ll see how quickly Thomas and his friends were able to convince everyone that he was actually famous. Before long he had teenage girls following him around the mall, mall security protecting him and stores shutting down so he could shop in private.

Maybe somewhat related. I was at the grocery store today and saw too college kids, one with the camera and the other walking around the store with a cart. How the hell thinks grocery shopping makes for any type of viewing enjoyment.

I did have a thought like, "WTF, maybe they are trying to get people to think one of them is famous."

    Just weird.

Pretty funny. Stupid people. I would have looked him up on my phone if I heard someone was at the same mall as me, and I didn't reconize the name.

Side note, I was at the mall over Christmas. My wife is from that area.

Many years ago a couple of my budiies and I would don a tie and jacket, grab some clipboards, and head out into different buildings of the Company. We'd go into an area, stand around jotting meaningless things down, and hold discussions while pointing at various walls and cubicles. We'd clam up whenever anyone walked by and eventually disappear without comment.

Started a lot of rumors that way.
