Default Whats the best steak in Indy?

My wife and I are going to stay overnight on Friday and wanted to go out for a nice steak on Saturday before the game. Whats the best steak in Indy PERIOD? Ive heard Mortons, Ruth, and Elmos. Someone also told me about a place that has crazy good aged steaks.

Also anyone ever been to the Tapas bar in downtown?

If you're looking only at downtown Indy, I think St Elmo's. If you're willing to drive, I love Eddie Merlot's up by 96th and Keystone.

The best filet in town is at Shula's. Except for that, Ruths Chris is hands down the best in everything else. Elmo's is overrated.

Barcelona Tapas is really nice. You and your wife could probably share 6 or 8 small plates and be very satisfied. Decent drinks, too.

    Haven't had Elmo's, but R.C. is fantastic.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I can echo that Barcelona Tapas is delicious. The only elite Indy steakhouse I've tried is St. Elmo and I was very satisfied with the NY Strip I had there. I haven't been to the Indy Ruth's Chris but I've been to the one in Louisville and thought it was about equal to St. Elmo's. I've had Morton's in Louisville before too and there is one of those in Downtown Indy.

Has anyone ever had the steak soup at Shula's for a quick meal? I guess they still have it... That was some great soup. IMHO...
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

From now on your username is Steakles. Or maybe Steakless is more appropriate.

The tapas place is good, but if youre already thinking steaks, I think you would walk away from there disappointed. Foga de chao(sp?) is where you need to go if you've never been to a place like that before. Leandro would be proud.

Morton's is the clear choice here. St. Elmos, Shula's, RC can all give you a very good steak.

Morton's, however, will give you the very best steak and they take service up about 10 levels higher than the others. Steak, service and atmosphere make Morton's the only choice.

Damn, now my mouth is watering for some onion loaf.

    IMO...Schula > Ruth Chris >> St. Elmo

I have never been to Morton's.

I you want smaller pieces of excellently prepared meat, but as much as you want to eat, presented to you at your table anytime you call for it, then Fogo de Chao is your place. With an excellent salad bar and a couple of beers, about $60-$70 per person But, you might find yourself overeating and waddling to the game.

If it's a slab of meat you are looking for, RCs, Mortons, Shulas and St Elmo's/Harry&Izzys is a about as god as it gets downtown.

If it's consistency you want, RCs is probably the best. Shulas is fantastic when it's good, but that is about a 60-40 proposition from my experience. A lot of my friends are fans of Mortons, but my personal preference has always been one of the others.

I prefer St Elmo's or Harry and Izzy's. They are locally owned, therefore not a chain like all the others. Excellent steaks, and like RCs, served sizzling to you table. And unlike all the others, they serve shrimp cocktails with the legendary, world-famous sauce.
And if you want to act like a person in the know, ask for the double when you order the shrimp cocktail.

Hell yeah!!! They have like 20 different cuts of steak, every single piece tastes great, as an steak lover I think Fogo is the best, plus you can eat as much as you want

I second Fogo de Chao. It's better than all of them. Just thinking of the leg of lamb makes my mouth water. I believe it's also the closest to BLF.
