    F... that....

Also, lights at the Speedway? No thank you. To effectively light the place, you'd literally have to have hundreds of lights I'd think. That would look ridiculous. All of the other tracks have can have their lights, but the classic Indianapolis Motor Speedway does not need them. Hundreds of lights would take away from the traditional quality of the place, IMO

I've kind of reached the point where I think for the Indy500 to ever fully having a chance to reclaim it's former glory it's going to need new ownership. Even if the Hulman-George family either totally stepped aside, or stayed engaged and made all the right moves, I'm starting to think it wouldn't matter. They will always be associated with the IRL mistakes and problems of that era. CART might've lost the war, but they won the PR battle for hearts and minds and the media.

Possible improvement projects for the Speedway could include the installation of lights for night events, high-definition video boards, LED scoring and information boards and improvements to many structural aspects of the facility.

Lights at the sacred Indianapolis Motor Speedway would look bizarre. The place being lit up at night just wouldn't look right, IMHO.

Adam, your link spun things a little away from the BIG news-
IMS is now asking the taxpayers for money. True, IMS got traffic control and police at no cost in the past (but then the city and the state got a nice influx of cash and free publicity too)...but never has IMS asked for taxpayers to actually fund improvements or maintain the facility. That line has now been crossed.

There's no end to corporate welfare. I'm surprised it took them this long. The beauty of it is for those asking for corporate welfare that they pretty much get it as 'no strings attached' free cash.

The best improvement they could make would be to bring the apron back. Think we should start the 13 thread?
