Dragon Racing (Jay Penske) has sued Lotus for breach of contract. So, either Jay has a turbocharged rabbit with a bowtie up his sleeve or he won't be running the Indy 500.
O'Brien has been fired! Yay! What took so long?

Just keeps getting better and better. Colin Chapman must be spinning in his grave.

So on Friday the cars will be given more boost and that will be in play until qualifying is over... giving them more horsepower for Friday to see how their cars react after being setup with less hp all week long, tweak setups for the new hp, qualify, and then boost will be dialed back for the race (and I assume Carb day).

I don't really have a problem with rules that allow qualifying speeds to be higher than race speeds. Not sure about that thought though if teams can't practice both their race setups and qualifying setups at any point they want during times when track is open for practice. Especially with the condensed month of May schedule.

So I guess it's work on race setups all week and scramble to find the proper balance for the extra boost on Friday. Should make the track busy on Fast Friday.

After watching today's practice I'm thinking we're in for a lot of passing come race day. Looks like the aero package is going to make for speed for the trailing cars and then the parachute will come out after they pass and leave them as a sitting duck for the now trailing car.

Could make for some wide race cars in the final lap or laps of the 500...

If anyone wondered what the extra boost would do, Marco has clicked off a 227.540 this afternoon. Pretty sure that was without a tow...
Still 40 mins to go today in testing.

1 Honda in the top ten so far for Happy Hour. Makes you wonder about that alleged unfair advantage the turbo change was going to net for Honda. Davey Hamilton says it never was about speed/power... the change was about reliability.

The fast 9 would be more interesting if they'd adjust the time to account for the fact Indiana is on DST now. Happy Hour, according to the position of the sun and not the clock, should be 6PM-7PM. DST screwed it up.

I'm not even sure Penske expected to have a shot at pole this morning and yet there he is.

I feel bad for Clausen. He had the car in the show... almost... and then he had it in the wall instead.

Hinchtown was in the first turn today. Hinch would pull out of the pits and the turn would roar with approval!

I wouldn't look forward to it. It's hot enough in there when it's not in the 90's. Track temp should be ungodly and they haven't been on track with it this hot. Should be interesting. Today's light reading: http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/artic...alifying-fines

Oh well, I'll take ANYTHING over a rainy day - even if it's near 100 degree temperatures. As long as they are racing and not drying the track then I'm cool.

Just follow this pattern and you will be fine: beer, water, beer, water, beer, water, beer, water, beer, water, beer, water........

This will be my 15th straight 500. We haven't had a rainy one since 2007. IIRC, this will be the third straight one with scorching temperatures. Could this potentially the hottest one ever though? 96 is obscenely hot.

If my past experiences are any indication, 96į means it will feel like 116į in the stands.

My sister is a 500 princess this year so she'll have to be there in a full length gown. I'm sure she'll just love her first race.
