Jeff is interested in becoming a real estate broker from what I understand. I doubt he begins a job with the Pacers, but I suppose he could change his mind.

It's the right decision, though I hate to see it happen.

Timing could have been better, though. BEFORE the deadline would have been helpful.

I do have to say the cynic in me, while appreciative of what Jeff has given us, has to feel like he did just collect a paycheck for half the season and now he's gonna bounce.

Definitely sad to hear. Atleast he is able to walk away from the game with his health for the most part.

I'd try and collect an entire year. "Work smarter, not harder."

Saddens me as I always got the "Plays like Foster" moniker back in the day during pick up games at the park due to my excellent post defense and rebounding ability.

Great player, always one of my Favs.

But alas, I did not expect Jeff back for the playoffs and if he was back I would have questioned his insertion back into the line up with Lou playing so well. There is a certain chemistry lost when a guy who has been out most of the season suddenly plays heavy minutes.

    Mike Wells
    Also In Indiana Pacers
Pacers veteran center Jeff Foster has announced his retirement after 13 years with the franchise because of ongoing back problems. “It’s with deep regret that I have to conclude my basketball career,” Foster in a statement. “I’ve given my all to the Pacers and the community the last 13 years. I had hoped to be able to finish the season, but unfortunately my back problems prevented that from occurring. I want to thank the Simon family and the Pacers’ organization for 13 memorable years.”

As I recall paychecks left on the contract are still collected after retirement. I know we paid Reggie for his last year, which is why we had to use the amnesty on him to get it off the cap.

This thought did just cross my mind, maybe Jeff is retiring knowing we are going to sign someone who is bought out or waived?
