INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A new offensive lineman is joining the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced Wednesday.
Colts officials signed free agent center Samson Satele, who has been in the NFL for five seasons.
He most recently played for the Oakland Raiders, but started his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins. He was a four-year letterwinner and team captain at the University of Hawaii.
“He has all the necessary traits to be one of the top centers in the NFL,” Colts General Manager Ryan Grigson said in a news release.
Satele said he was looking forward to a fresh start with a new team.
Former Oakland Raiders center Samson H. Satele was arrested in his home state of Hawaii early Saturday on disorderly conduct charges, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported.
Satele, who is seeking a new team in free agency, was released on $500 bail at 4:50am local time Saturday, less than an hour after being arrested at a shopping complex in the Aiea district of Honolulu, which houses late-night bars and restaurants.
The 27-year-old was set to appear in Honolulu's Ewa District Court on April 18 on account of the petty misdemeanor.
Satele started 15 games for the Raiders last season before becoming a free agent in the off-season.
It was his third year with the team after being traded from the Miami Dolphins, who had drafted him out of the University of Hawaii in 2007.
