This kind of bums me out. As an Orlando resident I wanted to see Manning on the Dolphins, but I guess that's not happening.

or maybe Miami ask them to trade Marshall?? I don't know two 3rds for a top 5 WR feels like stealing. I would think if they shopped him longer they could of got at least a 2 and 3 if not more. I think Miami has something up their sleeve if they dont this trade makes no sense for them IMO.

But with this move the Bears can afford Mario Williams and Carl Nicks if they so choose NFL network just said. We saved so much money by not giving out a ton for Vincent Jackson that we can be players and bulid a great OL. Mario will get too much I hope we dont shell out 100m on him.

Great move for Chicago. They were a solid looking team last year before Cutler went down.

This definitely puts a huge dent in Miami's chances of getting Manning.

I think they already knew they had little chance of getting Manning if they made this deal.

Good point. I don't think it was a good sign for them that they had to go to Indy to meet him whereas he went to Denver and Arizona himself.

WR Pierre Garcon signed a five-year, $42.5 million deal with Redskins that includes $21 million in guarantees, according to league source

WOWsers that is overpaying I think V-Jax may get 13 per year. Thank god we traded instead if that is the market. I guess with the new rookie pay scale vets will be getting a lot more $$.

His deal is really a 2 year deal. I have not heard an "official" number, but rumor is it is 7-9.5 million.

I am assuming that means his contract has a hard core performance clause (and to state the obvious, they drafted it as a 5 year deal to spread out the guaranteed money)

That's just dumb money. That's why they're the Redskins.

Indy's talking to Baltimore DE Cory Redding.

Love all the cuts without all the facts.

    Snyder spent dumb money.

Once Bruce Allen came on, and hired Shanny, they both have a whole different mentality. Hence why they even have so much money to spend (even after they were robbed of 18M of it)

If they were just spending wildly they would have offered V-Jax a huge deal, which is exactly what his agent proposed. Bruce and Mike literally laughed out loud, then went on exploring other options

Garçon on that contract is just stupidly overpaid. He isn't a 1 but is being paid like it. The skins need OL help don't know if they can afford it now. Also fletcher needs to get paid I just think 42m is crazy overpaying I bet some other gms are lol at it

    V,
That's still way too much money for garcon. He is getting number 1 money fornumber 2 production.

    I totally agree.

But until we start winning we simply have to overpay a bit to get players here. He may not be a true number 1, but he is good enough to help RG3 (or Luck) grow, and he will be gone in 2 years (coincidentally when the NFL "punishment that is not a punishment expire)

Sucks we had to pay so much, but we needed WR help. We were a joke last year. I seriously think I saw some receivers who could not beat my old college teammates on routes. We were old, slow, and pathetic. And that was on a good day.

I still want us to go for a big guy, but small steps. At least Vinny is not offering 10 year 100 million dollars contracts out.

The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

I think Carlson would fit with what we are trying to do.

He is not a big blocker though is he, I know the Colts plan on running the ball a lot more. I think he will be decent but I would rather have Fleener than this guy, I should state that Fleener is not a big blocker either, but I like his potential and the relationship he already has with Luck.
    Why so SERIOUS

Here is a question..What are we trying to do?

We have a run heavy coach vs a pass happy OC. I know everyone can bend their football philisosphy a little but I am not sure how the offense will be run under these coaches.

I also wouldn't give Carlson a big contract.

Not a big contract in any way. I think he's be ok as a third receiving TE and us picking up another TE or two for the running game who can be major blockers.

I am starting to get excited with the signing ob Redding and the trade for Justice. Now if we can get that LB to run the 3-4 I'd be really excited. I am not sure who is all available, maybe Freeney for trade for that LB or even a big NT. We will be in a good position to draft young talent to learn behind those guys as well. Maybe Hughes will get more playing time now. I don't really think he is a bust at this time, he was just stuck behind both MAthis and Freeney. I can see him converting well to the 3-4.

The franchise tag this year is around 5.6 for TE's which is the average pay for the top 5 TE's in 2011.

I guess I would have to disagree that Carlsons contract isn't that big when compared to other TE's especially when you consider that he didn't play a single down in 2011 due to injury.
