    Default Poor Andrew Luck???

Man you've got to have some feelings for Andrew Luck, can't imagine the pressure that guy is feeling right now.
You know how hippos are made out to be sweet and silly, like big cows, but are actually extremely dangerous and can kill you with stunning brutality? The Pacers are the NBA's hippos....Matt Moore CBS Sports....

At least he can be relieved he now knows for sure where he is going and if he is starting or not..

Now he just has to prepare to take over the reins.

I feel bad for the guy. If he turns out to be at, say, Matt Ryans level he's going to be looked at as a bust.

He has ginormous expectations on his shoulders now.

I just hope that the fans here give him some time. 2 of Manning's first 4 seasons were pretty rough: his rookie year and his 4th year. He didn't get consistently great until his 6th year in 2003.

If he's the QB that we think / hope he is - this is exciting for him. I don't want him saying 'Oh, , they got rid of Peyton !!!" I would like him to be confidently cocky (or cockily confident) and anxious to get things going.

If Luck turns out to be a Matt Ryan level QB I will not be disappointed if we also have a middle of the pack running game and above average defense. Anything can happen in the NFL and that sort of team can get lucky and win it all.

I'm hoping Luck's backups are lots better than the backups Peyton had.

Cornheiser said a bit ago that he wanted to see PM go to the Arizona Cardinals and then they could trade him to Indy for Andrew Luck.

    I'd take that.

There are two ways to look at this if you're Luck:

    a) Oh ****. I'm following a legend I can't possibly live up to. This pressure is going to be brutal.

    OR

    b) Bring it on. I have something to prove.

Methinks his mindset is closer to b. True winners rise to the occasion and welcome the challenge.

Orlovsky is one of the better bad QBs in the league.

Yeah but I think he is better than any backup QB Peyton had.

True but that's not a huge testimonial to Orlovsky.

If Orlovsky was QB the entire season, we would have won 5 games and might have won 6 or 7. That's not a bad backup QB. They aren't supposed to be out there for an entire season anyway.

Who the heck is Luck going to be throwing it to next season if we don't keep Garcon or Wayne? Manning had the benefit of being able to rely on Harrison early on. Luck is going to have no one if we don't keep those guys.

I'm more worried about the line.. Recievers aren't a problem for a guy like Luck, he didn't have any great ones at Standford. Mostly threw to his TE's.. We still have Clark, as well as brody eldridge. And could sign Tamme. We would also have Collie which I can really see him and Luck clicking well with each other.

Vincent Jackson, Marques Colston, Brandon Lloyd and Mario Manningham are all good WR's who are FA we could grab as well. WR is the second easiest position to replace imo. The OL is the hardest and I think that is a bit of a weakness. Especially if Saturday retires.

If the Colts can't afford to keep their own FA, then they aren't going to go out and sign other FA.

It's not that we can't afford them, its that we don't really want Wayne anymore and Garcon might think he's worth more than he is. We have plenty of money now that Peyton is gone. Many more moves are still yet to come. I can see us releasing more guys soon that in the past few years we wouldn't have dreamed to drop. Which will equal more money as well.

When the colts no longer have dead money problems due to dropped players we should be fine.

Who knows what we will find with our 2nd pick and beyond? I do believe there have been some half way decent players picked after round 1.

After spending some time at the Colts message board I feel pretty bad for Luck. Unless he turns out to be a top 5 QB in this league a good portion of the fans are going to think he is a bust and turn on him quickly.

I just hope we learned our lesson and actually build a real defense around Luck instead of building a defense that can only play well when the offense has got a 10+ point lead.

Even if Luck turns out to be on the level of Matt Ryan you give him a great defense and a solid group of receivers we will be a consistent winner in this league and compete for a title.
