Default Polian to join ESPN as analyst

I think this will be a good fit. I look forward to seeing what he has to say.

Isn't this the guy who hates the media? I guess we all need a paycheck.

Just what NaPolian needs. Multiple weekly opportunities to show everyone else whey they're an idiot.

He's always gotten along very well with the guys at ESPN like Mort and Clayton, IIRC. It's the local media that he can't stand.

Well, when you have Kravitz and his cohorts how could you stand them?

It runs much deeper than that.

I was reading, I think Wilson's blog for the Star Press, but anyways reading an article about the relationship with the organization and the media. Bill ruled with an iron fist. The author said a friend got a job with the Colts. One day they passed each other in the hallway, and his friend wouldn't even make eye contact with him.

Called the writer up later and apologized and said that they weren't to talk to any media, regardless if they're friends or family. He didn't even want to acknowledge his friend because he was afraid it would get back to Bill.

We're just now finding out that Peyton had four surgeries? We're just now finding out that he was practicing with the team with the intention of playing in red zone situations? These are things that would get leaked in any other organization and it took weeks for it to filter out even after Polian left.

Not even allowing your staff to even talk to friends who are members of the media borders more closely to paranoia than anything IMHO.

another reason to be very familiar with the location of the mute button on the remote, if for some reason I need to watch that channel (such as when MNF is on).

He rivals Chris Carter in the category of mute-worthiness, perhaps trailing only Marshall Faulk.
The poster "pacertom" since this forum began (and before!). I changed my name here to "Slick Pinkham" in honor of the imaginary player That Bobby "Slick" Leonard picked late in the 1971 ABA draft (true story!)

I think it is a lot easier to give insite on various teams than talking about your team and not giving away too much information.

I think he will do a good job, best wishes.

The great irony he's becoming the very person he hated when he was here: A member of the media.

And of course, he got the job because who else will give them insight on Manning after the Colts release him (as they see it)

Polian is good at turning the charm on when he needs to. I thought he came across very well in the PTI interview he did a few weeks ago. I think this will work out well.

I agree. I only wonder how long that charm will stay on. When it's not on, he's a major ***.

I think he's boring to listen to. Hetalksinamonotonevoiceandhissentencesrambleintoon eanotherandhetalksforeverwithoutreallysayinganythi ng.

All the more reason to wait until game-time before turning on the TV. All these pre-game shows are hot air and ego trips. Haven't watched one in a few years.

I haven't seen the quote for myself, but Kravitz tweeted that Irsay said "I'm kinda glad I'm not there" and the context was dealing with PM's situation.

    That REALLY pisses me off.

I think Kravitz is maybe taking it out of context a bit. Polian said that this morning on Mike and Mike in the morning. IIRC, They were talking about how emotional and sad of a moment it would be and that's when Polian said "I'm kinda glad I'm not there". I think all Polian met by it was that it wasn't going to be an enjoyable situation for anyone and that it's something you certainly don't want to ever have to deal with.
