Thread: I just want to prepare everybody on PD

Default I just want to prepare everybody on PD

The beginning of March will be brutal. Indiana might wanna take care of business and get to 23-12 with these next four games ( Hornets x2, GS, CHA ) , because after that, starting March 5th....

    Chicago
    Atlanta
    Miami
    Orlando
    Portland
    Philadelphia
    New York
    New York
    Los Angeles Clippers

    That's insane.

I just hope that we will keep the overreaction to the minimum. I'd be sad if some people get too high after a possible winning streak (although Hornets are not bad as their record indicates and GS will give us fits as well) and then got too low after a possible losing streak.

How does Indiana have all these stretches but New York has none like this?

"We've got to be very clear about this. We don't want our players hanging around with murderers," said Larry Bird, Pacers president.

It will definitely be an interesting stretch of games. If we can make it out of that mess at .500 during the stretch I will be happy.

I feel that if we really want to prove that we are truly a team to be recokened with, we need to come out and WIN more than half of those games.

It truly is a brutal stretch, but we cant continue to beat weak teams, and lose to stronger teams.

I've been beating this drum for the past two weeks. Everyone has been saying "our hardest stretch is behind us" and that is not really true.

Luckily the number of games isn't too bad at the start of March.

Coming out of the AS break, they have a game then 3 days off, then a game 1 day off and then a back to back and then another three days off - leading up to the heat game on March 10th. After that they only have 1 other time where they have two days between games for the rest of the season. So even though in late March the opponents get easier the number of games stays at an incredible pace.

Holy hell, we could be around .500 after that nasty stretch.

Time to see what this team is really made of. Unfortunately, we won't find out until after the trade deadline has already passed.

I actually love this.. Our team lost it's identity because the over confidence. We stopped playing hard and thought that we were super talented that we can run over any team..

We play tough defense, we are physical and our bench helps us thru.
We lost all this during the 5 game losing streak. The up coming schedule should keep our team hungry and focused. I like our chances vs all those teams, since we have beaten most of them.

People are acting like we are the LOLcats. We can compete with any team if we play our style of basketball. Frank has this team playing hard again..

Man would George Hill's presence help a lot thought. Sure miss that guy...
We just need to take care of business before we looks ahead. We need to beat Nawleans and the LOLcats. We will carry some momentum with a 4 game winning streak... Hibbert seems to be out his funk now, must be the fact that he's over being star struck.

Yeah coming out of that stretch 5-4 would be fairly well, 6-3 would be us playing playing really good ball IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pacers win both NYK games, Portland, Chicago, Orlando.

Philly, who knows. They're tough, but the Pacers should match up relatively well with them. That to me is a 50/50 game.
The Clippers are a tough matchup with CP3 vs DC/AJ/GH, Deandre will be tough for any of our 5's, and Blakes athleticism will make life hard for David/Tyler et al.

The Heat and Atlanta games are really tough, we just do not match up well. At least thats how it seems.

Chicago all depends on Rose's health, but regardless we already know we can/should beat them.

Orlando is due to start fading. The trade chatter won't help.

Portland, anyone know how hurt Aldridge is? Without him, Pacers have advantages at the 1, 2, 4 and 5.

Super tough stretch, but anything worse than 5-4 would be somewhat disappointing, as these are the games a good team needs to win.

I don't think 5-4 would be too surprising for that stretch.

I'll just quote a fellow PDer:

Also beating up on the bottom feeders is a common way to get a good record, especially in the East. Here are the records for the East playoff teams against .500 or better teams:

    Miami 14-4
    Chicago 9-6
    Pacers 9-9
    Orlando 9-10
    Boston 6-9
    New York 6-9
    Philadelphia 6-11
    Atlanta 6-11

The Pacers actually have the worst record among the top 6 against below .500 teams at 10-3, but they are on par against the good teams.
As you can see we're not only beating weak teams and lose to good teams. We're just inconsistent. We're also amazing streak busters. Play us when you're on a winning streak and you'll lose. Play us on a losing streak and you can squeeze out a win.

PS: Props to Cubs for the stats.

If we play our game... Meaning Vogel gets them playing with the defensive effort we opened the year with and began showing again against Charlotte, then we will have put ourselves in a position to win every one of those games.

It just comes down to who executes and shoots better on any given night.

    We'll be fine!

Miami is the only real concern, as we have not even competed with them in the 1st two games. Apart from them, everyone else on that list is beatable. New York is really coming on!
