Monta Ellis? Hmmm Trade them Roy Hibbert, and then sign Kris Kamen in the offseason? Might be worth it.

Thank goodness for league pass. I watch every Suns game I can just to imagine what Nash would look like dishing to our squad. And don't laugh but I'd seriously consider taking back Channing Frye to get him.

Bird expects 34-38 wins out of this team. I don't see him panicking, but there has to be some moves out there that could improve this team.

Well... guess I'm officially an outsider.... since you guys obviously aren't sharing what you're smoking with me. Or, should I just assume it hasn't made its way around to me just yet?

Yes, and since they would be on the same team those scores would be added together instead of offsetting each other.

Why do you "sell your soul" for that? He has been a part of one winning season in the NBA and that team was led by Baron Davis.

Should the Wolves target M. Ellis instead?

    John Hollinger (12:40 PM)

No, he'd be a terrible fit. Actually, I struggle to think of places where he'd really be a good fit.... maybe Indiana.

Let me get this straight. If you had to decide between Nash (a proven winner) and Monta (who hasn't done ****), who would you choose?

My money is on Nash. I'd take a 50 year old Nash coming out of retirement than Monta.

I would love for the Pacers to get Nash and Lopez.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

This doesn't forward your idea though. The fact that he can't think of a team he fits in with but then throws in Indiana as a maybe tells me that there is a problem with Ellis.

That's because many teams have point guards that need the ball in their hands to be effective and I suspect that he knows that we don't have anybody that can create their own shot or are as effective as Monta with the ball in their hands.

Just look at all the starting point guards or guards that need the ball in their hands to be effective: Rubio, Nash, Westbrook, Rose, Irving, Wade, Dwill, Lin, etc, etc, yeah I agree with him there aren't many teams where a guy like Monta could be as effective as he could be here, call me crazy but if we get him and we don't move either PG or Danny(just dreaming here) I start Monta at the 1 and never look back, he could be as good as Westbrook and Rose in my opinion, he was getting close to 7apg as their PG before Curry came back.

I would prefer Monta over Nash. Not because Nash isn't a great player, or the player whose style I prefer.

We have a severe need for someone who can get their points off the dribble. Collison does this depending on the matchup and typically gets killed on the defensive end. Monta is a better defender than Nash (and Collison) and provides us the scoring we desperately lack. Monta opens up spacing by getting into the heart of the defense and making plays off of that. Is he a bit of a ball hog, yes, but he has been much better with other scorers around him in the last two years. I think Monta would be a great fit for us. The biggest reason I want Monta over Nash is their huge age difference. I don't want to give up something for a guy who might have two more years of effective basketball left. Monta fits our team's age range and gives us the scoring that Nash doesn't. The argument of Nash making other players around him better I get, but Monta will do the same (though not as well) and give us a better scoring option in the meantime. I'd make a deal for Monta assuming he doesn't have any red flags for us to acquire him.

Maybe something along the lines of:

Collison to NO, Tyler, Kaman, and a first of ours to GS for Monta and McGuire (as a roster filler)
"Your course, your path, is not going to be like mine," West says. "Everybody is not called to be a multimillionaire. Everybody's not called to be the president. Whatever your best work is, you do it. Do it well. You cease your own greatness when you aspire to be someone else."

I agree with what you are saying Pacergod2 but I think that to make a deal happen with GS we would probably have to take into Biedrin's contract, maybe DC to NO, Kaman+Tyler to GS Monta Biedrins to the Pacers.

    Monta, PG, Danny, West, Hibbert.

What a few games does to PD! Two weeks ago, 90% of these posts would be mundane fodder for the Knee Jerk thread. I'm super bummed out about this team right now, but wow.

I don't know if all this Monta Ellis talk is just dreaming or if there is a real possibility he could be obtained by Bird, but adding a player with that kind of offensive prowess would change the culture in what I expect is a positive way. Frankly, I don't know of any other player legitimately available who could have a major impact on this club.

    Monta, PG, Danny, West, Hibbert.
    Kaman+Tyler seems way too cheap.
keep in mind, they can just amnesty Biedrins. So this whole thing would start to make sense if they had a Scrooge McDuck for an owner. from basketball point of view / clearing cap point of view it's a horrible trade for GSW.

Maybe we should just sign A.I. and Agent Zero: Team Repentance. That would spark some life into our second unit. Nothing like the threat of guns in a locker room to re-focus a ball club.
