Default Game Thread 28: Pacers vs. Heat 2/14/2012

    Cool off the Heat!

    Game time: 7:00PM EST

    TV: FSN-Indiana NBA-TV

    STARTERS:

    For your INDIANA PACERS

And for the visiting Miami Heat

    SEASON RECORDS
    17-10 (7-3 Home)
    22-7 (10-5 Away)

    INJURY REPORT
George HIll is out for the Pacers. Jeff Foster is questionable for the Pacers. Mario Chalmers is day to day but very probable for the Heat.

And now for our sponsored section of the game thread brought to you by Jack Link's Beef Jerky...

THE MESSIN' WITH SASQUATCH KEYS TO THE GAME

Back to back to back. For the Heat this is the 3rd game in 3 nights for them and all of the games have been on the road, Atlanta on Sunday, Milwaukee on Monday and now us tonight. For the Pacers this is the start of their back to back to back stretch. The team needs to take advantage of their fresh legs.

Revenge factor. Pacers need to remember the butt whoopin' the received in Miami and come out with a fire in their bellies that they've been lacking lately.

Big Roy needs to get out of his big slump. With either 6'9" Joel Anthony or 6'10" Chris Bosh starting out guarding him, there is no reason Roy shouldn't have a good game tonight.

This is going to be a tough game. We're coming off a 3 game losing streak. This is the Heat's 3rd game on a back-back-back, so hopefully theyre a little tired
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

I worry that we might try to run too much knowing the Heat are coming off a back-to-back and then leave ourselves tired for the remainder of our back-to-back-to-back.

It would be great to beat Miami, but it would be all for not if the Pacers then turned around and lost to Cleveland because they were drained.

They've won their last 3 games and we've lost our last 3 so this gives me hope. Streaks exist in order to be beaten.

I don't think we much up well with them. Only Roy has an advantage. Hope they play with fire and fight till the end. Also, it would be fun to see Lou guarding LeBron

    You've caught a case of Gambler's fallacy.

I agree that what I say does not apply to logic but this season does not apply to logic either. What I said tends to happen quite a lot this year.

For example, both the Celtics and the Bulls were on a 4 game winning streak before they lost to us. The Hawks were on a 3 game winning streak when we beat 'em, as well. On the other hand, the Kings, the Pistons and the Hawks (at our second meeting) were on a 3 game losing streak and they all beat us. Denver was on a 5 game losing streak and we lost to them as well.

So, while it indeed is a fallacy it may be a quite accurate one in that case

The guys have to play as a team and USE HIBBERT! We haven't been using him like we should and not many players can stop him. Honestly, I look for PG, D West, and Granger to have huge games. When we played the Nuggets I was at the game in the lower section and at the end of the game I was watching those 3 guys and they were all very upset and looked like they were ready to blow up. I think this is a game they come out and play hard and try to show everyone on national tv we are for real. I hope they don't prove me wrong and lay a goose egg tho :/

Hibbert is how you beat Miami.. Go to Hibbert early and often. Let's face it, Wade and James are both way to much for us to handle in the matchups game. Maybe PG can do alright with Wade, but even at that we still have James and then Bosh. Chalmers and Cole are also playing good basketball this year at the Pg position for them. Miami is such a good team, im not getting my hopes up. But, we do have a slight advantage with the fact that we have been home preparing for a few days, while they just got in from MIL on back to back games, going into their 3rd day straight with a game. Although I will say i was keeping an eye on their minutes and they didn't play much last night. Lebron had the most min and he only had 31.

Let's hope for the best to BEAT THE HEAT.

Very interested in watching the Wade/George match up. I think Paul's height could give the 6'4' Wade some problems.

Very concerned about the Danny/LeBron match up. Last game in Miami Danny disappointed with his defensive effort. I think LeBron scares him. He scares me too. The way he competes against James will determine whether we win or lose this game IMO. Hope he steps up to the challenge.

And if foster can't go again tonight I'll be firmly in the camp that we need another big (Kaman please). I like Lou on this team but not in the regular rotation.

    2 things:

1 ) I'm more concerned that we're going to play this game more like how we played the Mavs game where we seemed to play the entire game at 110% with the Starters and Hansbrough, Foster and Inferno. I don't want them to burn themselves out just to beat the Heat...especially at the start of a B2B2B set of games.

2 ) +1000 for your Avatar of Archer having a drink at some Pacers related Bar.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

Can't let them pull away, can't play catch up all game. Pacers HAVE to punch back and or end up like Atlanta and Milwaukee the last two days.

I think (and I could be wrong) it's $12, or $6 on the roof. At least I'm pretty sure that's what it was last season. PTO usually parks at Penn and South for $5.

I dont think any other team in the league can compete with teh way the HEAT can put together a blitzing run. If I remember correctly, we were close up until halftiem then after 4-5 minutes down by 20 plus pointsw

Hey Vogel, please dont be afraid to use ALL of your timeouts. PLease dont wait for it to be a doubble digit deficit before you call timeout

To be honest, I'm pretty worried about this game. There are a lot of reasons why we should win, and plenty of reasons why we shouldn't. We won't have Hill, but we have Hibbert. We're starting a back-to-back-to-back, and they're playing their third of a b2b2b. They're on a three-game win streak, we're on a three-game losing streak. We've had three days rest, and I hate the Heat. We should be able to do this.

We can turn this around tonight, set the tone for the rest of the pre-All-Star break schedule, which are mostly easy games. If we pull it out against the Heat, we should be good until the ASB.

Although, I don't want to get my hopes up. We're bound to **** off LeBroccoli and cause him to go off on a tangent. We just need to work hard and not let the team and bandwagon fans get to us.

If it takes playing all out in order to beat the Heat in front of a home town crowd, I say do it do it do it do it.

Worrying too much about the next two games is the way to end up losing all three of them. Play the game in front of you, manage the resources you have an opportunity to manage, and win if you can.

While every game counts the same in the standings, winning at home gets them more people walking out of the Fieldhouse raring to come back to see them again.

Plus if you can't take care of the Cavs tomorrow night just because you beat the Heat tonight you have bigger problems anyway.

This is a game where the Pacers need the 15+ point Tyler Hansbrough and for Hibbert to get back to doing whatever he was doing before.

Im sorry but only Roy has an advantage? Are you possibly saying that you think Mario Chalmers is a better basketball player than Darren Collison? Mario is horrible and you will see for yourself tonight just that. Also, whoever Frank has George guarding is in for a long night.....it will be either Wade or Lebron, hope its Lebron.
