Default Bird, Croshere on 1070 this morning (separately)

Worth a listen. Larry's comments about Lance (in terms of maturity) are encouraging.

I like how Bird points out that he thinks not only is Lance the best passer on the team, but also sees the court better than anyone else. Big difference between the two.

Good interview by conrad and the other dude too.

I normally take quotes from Bird about Lance with caution, but this one is detailed and pointed enough for me to believe in Lance's maturity. I hope he keeps it up.

I'd almost like to see Lance focus on nothing but passing. Setting up teammates. Become a setup specialist. He could make a career of that. I don't even really care to see him score, I wanna see a crap-ton of those sick passes and lobs.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

The kid needs to work on his FT's, what good is a PG that gets to the rim, gets fouled but cant hit the broad side of a barn.

L.Stephenson looks like Pacers best facilitator, yet plays w/ 0 play makers, is this the best recipe for his success?
Should we not take a look at plaing him more w/ the starters?
He was feeding Roy well last night - me likey!
I would love for Lance to develope a 3 pt shot though. With his quickness, defenders play off him, if he had a shot they would not be able to do that.

Yup... and he needs to quit hanging his head and showing his emotions on the court too. I saw Dahntay and G. Hill talking to him about it after the missed free throws.

That's pretty cool when you think about. These guys that are competing with Lance for minutes, but still going out of their way to help a young player. You can't help but love this team.

It's still really hard for me to take anything Bird says about Lance seriously after he called him "our most talented player". But I hope he's right.

G.Hill had a good conversation w/him after Lance left his man at the end of the shot clock, & they hit a big 3, then again when Lanced missed his 2nd set of 2 FT's & then played madidor defence, trying to make a steel instead of playing solid D, & the Jazz scored on a 4 on 5 fast break to end the 3rd.

I like to hear that Larry keeps repeating that he is still has some work to do.

You think he's just hyping him up? Why would he do that at the expense of alienating the rest of the team.

Well, but the more he can become a scoring/shooting threat, the easier it's going to be for him to make more of those setup passes because of the defensive attention.

That's what has me most excited. He's really crafty around the basket kinda like Marquis Daniels is, we just haven't seen much of it yet. Once he unlocks his paint game it'll open everything else up for him.

He could really mean it this time. But it's a "boy who cried wolf" thing that has me unable to take anything he says on the issue at face value.

He may very well be the most talented player. How can you not take Bird for his word? Are you sitting through every practice as Bird does?

The Boy Who Cried Wolf isn't applicable. That story revolves around a kid that conintuously lied in order to get attention. It wasn't the fact that he was crying wolf, it was the fact that there was a pattern of him crying it for no good reason.

When has Larry had a pattern of saying this type of stuff?

Correct me if I am wrong...but from game to game...whatever Lance's role is on the floor...specifically the primary ball handler trying to pass the ball as opposed to being the guy that is waiting on either side for the ball to be passed to him ( yes, the traditional "PG" and "SG" on the floor )...seems to change from game to game.

Based off of Bird's comments...wouldn't it make sense for Lance to the primary ball handler when he's on the floor then?

Larry has continuously said that Lance is the most talented player on that roster. That's a lie.

It's an opinion. It can't be a lie, unless you think you can prove Larry really doesn't believe it. That should be interesting.

Not even able thinks Larry is stupid enough to really believe that.

I still don't see anything there that supports your notion that he's lying about his opinion.

I wonder if Lance realizes how fortunate he is. Bird has really been in his corner.

He definetely is, in the dribbling and passing department. If he adds consistent finishing/shooting to his game, watch out!

I think Bird envisions Lance running the show one of these days, but right now they're trying not to put too much responsibility on his shoulders. They're trying to slowly break him in with out doing damage to the team in the process.

I guess I'm just not seeing why he'd lie. What would be the point?

Coming out of high school he was considerd one of the nations top players (just 3 yrs ago). No one else on the team can claim that.
