Default Game Thread 20: Pacers vs. Nets 1/31/2012

    Cut down the Nets!

    Game time: 7:00PM EST

    TV: FSN-Indiana

    STARTERS:

    For your INDIANA PACERS

And for the visiting New Jersey Nets

    SEASON RECORDS
    13-6 (5-1 Home)
    7-14 (5-8 Away)

    INJURY REPORT
Jeff Foster is probable for the Pacers. Marshon Brooks and Deshawn Stevenson are out for the Nets. Brook Lopez is also out.

And now for our sponsored section of the game thread brought to you by Jack Link's Beef Jerky...

THE MESSIN' WITH SASQUATCH KEYS TO THE GAME

Short on wings. With Marshon Brooks and Deshawn Stevenson out, look for former Pacer Shawne Williams to get the start at small forward for the Nets.

The Nets are one of the worst defensive and rebounding teams in the NBA. Usually being poor at those two things, means you aren't going to win a lot of games. The Pacers need to capitalize on what is a pretty easy matchup tonight.

Look for Big Roy to get off his short term slide from Boston and Orlando against a pretty weak New Jersey front court.

You're sure Jeff Foster is out? They said during the Orlando game he was expected back tonight.

Hmm, I must have missed that. Let me poke around. I guess, I'd be curious as to why we would play him tonight?

Mr.Kardashian is playing again and Sheldon Williams did a really good job against our Frontcourt in the last game....maybe Foster is needed?

Because I think contrary to some people's beliefs, Jeff isn't here just to play against the Dwight Howards of the league; they actually want him in the rotation so long as he's able. I think he's just close to feeling better again, and if he's ready they'll gladly play him behind Roy as often as possible (game to game, I mean).

That sucks, I was really hoping to see Marshon Brooks, the guy I so wanted in the draft.

With Brooks and Lopez out, we should be able to win this one. Pacers just need to treat every team like they are the Bulls from now on.

Box out Humphries and there goes their rebounds.

I'm glad that he's not playing....I don't want to see Marshon go off on us on the offensive end.

How good are we at "boxing out"? I thought that we weren't that good at doing that.

Also....Humphries is a younger version of Foster on the rebounding end with the misguided belief that he has an offensive game.

We really need to bring our "A" game when it comes to the rebounding game.

But is it worth the risk against a team like New Jersey?

Just as long as the retros don't look like those god-awful Clippers green/yellow jerseys that make them look like high-school outfits.....I'm fine with the Retro jerseys.

I really hope our players don't underestimate this match.Of course we have better players and a better team but don't forget that not long ago the Nets won at Sixers.

I wonder if any of the players in the Super Bowl will attend tonight. When the Super Bowl was in Detroit, the Pistons had a midweek game and several Steelers showed up.

Employee #10 remains grounded for this PM's brouhaha.

In other words, Foster isn't playing.

I was just about to post that Foster won't make it, a la Mark Boyle.

I'm excited for tonight's game! Got my tickets shoved off onto PDer 'ptaylor2112'; he and his 9-year-old son Henry have a great time tonight.

We're not that good in that department. We allow 12.4 offensive boards per game which brings us in the last places of said category (26th to be precise).

Regarding the game now. I really hope we step up and play like we have to. We shouldn't underestimate the Nets.
