Default Game Thread 14: Pacers @ Warriors 1/20/2012

    Wipe out the Warriors!

    Game time: 10:30PM EST

    TV: FSN-Indiana

    STARTERS:

    For your INDIANA PACERS

And for the Golden State Warriors

    SEASON RECORDS
    9-4 (4-4 Away)
    5-9 (3-4 Home)

    INJURY REPORT
Jeff Foster and Jeff Pendergraph are out for the Pacers. Kwame Brown and Stephen Curry are out for the Warriors.

And now for our sponsored section of the game thread brought to you by Jack Link's Beef Jerky...

THE MESSIN' WITH SASQUATCH KEYS TO THE GAME

Another road game, another bad defensive team, through the first 3 quarters against Sacto it looked as if the Pacers had figured out their offensive woes, alas the Pacers turned the ball over more than they scored in the 4th and went away with the L. Frank's message to the team tonight should be quite simple, 48, as in the number of minutes in an NBA game.

Resist the temptation to be haunted by the ghost of JOB, which is to say, NO SMALL LINEUPS. Get big, get strong and get down low against what is one of the smallest teams in the NBA. Do not let the second straight poor defensive team dictate to us what our end game lineup will be.

This is a good night to recover from that horrifying effort on the defensive boards (even though we were even with the Kings in total rebounds), the Warriors are in the bottom 1/3 of the league when it comes to crashing the boards.

Can we PLEASE not let THIS happen to us AGAIN?

At least, in my imagination, the 2012 version of this game ends with George blocking Ellis, not Rush failing to be defensive.

Our arena, their arena, Rucker park, it just doesn't matter. We're bigger, longer, younger, faster, and hungrier.

That was pretty good D by Rush. Certainly not "failing to be defensive."

The truly laughable part of that game was JOB drawing up an alley-oop for Hansbrough at the end of the game, when he had McBob and PG on the bench.

"I think if the Pacers can score more points tonight than the Warriors do, they should be able to pull out a win."

(I am waiting for Quinn to come up with this pre-game analysis - sounds like something he might say if he got too excited)

How about this one: "If you're moving your feet with out dribbling, the refs will most likely call traveling and thats what he did right there." lol

I wouldn't count that as a Yogi-ism. If you watch players feet, they constantly move them when they don't have their dribble.

Danny is the absolute worst at it. It's quite frightening to see how many players just blantantly travel with no call.

One of the major reasons I laugh when I hear about how good NBA officials are.

Pacers haven't won in Oakland since the Murphleavy trade. The three games Monta Ellis has played in in that span:

    FGM-A______FTM-A_____AST______ST_____PTS

    13-22_______ 3-3_______ 4______ 3____ 29

    15-27_______14-16_____ 1______ 5____ 45

    16-28______ 2-3______ 6______ 2_____ 36

Neadless to say, the guy gives us problems.

Did you know Tom Hanks character was based on Jimmie Foxx, who was an actual womens league coach? Thought that was interesting.

Yeah I miss Rush, but he needed to go for his own good. He looks more comfortable on the court this year than he ever has. If we had this player the last couple years I think he'd still be here.

He's going to be pumped up for this game. Hope he plays well.

It, like most other JOB head-scratchers, is etched deep into my memory. Regardless, Foster wasn't even on the floor.

0:00 Mike Dunleavy enters the game for Jeff Foster 108-110
0:00 Tyler Hansbrough enters the game for Paul George 108-110

Times have changed since the last time we played the Warriors in GS.

I'm hoping Vogel ripped these guys a new one after giving the game away Wednesday.

Another should win game here. We have solid D and they rely heavily on their offense.

Inferno, DC, GH and PG are going to have their hands full tonight. I really hope that Lance can do a decent job of defending.

With our lack of a frontcourt, I can easily see Nate and Monta attack the frontcourt and get Hibbert into foul trouble early...taking him out of the game. That would leave a frontcourt of Amundson, West and Hansbrough to defend the paint which easily scares the crap out of me when it comes to a Team that has 2 super quick Guards that can easily get to the rim. I can even see Granger playing some PF tonight.

    [RANT]

I don't think that Foster is the "end all be all" when it comes to the Frontcourt depth that we are looking for....but I think that he is more of an answer than Amundson is. But as many have pointed out.....I think that we lack Frontcourt depth and the FO should add a Backup Center that is better than Foster.////while pushing Foster into the role that Amundson is currently filling. The mere fact that we have to use Amundson as the backup only because Foster and Pendegraph is injured tells me what I need to know about our depth at the Backup Center spot. Amundson is a 4th Big Man on an average Team ( the role that he is currently filling ) but a 5th Big Man on a Playoff Caliber Team that can make a deep run. We need a Frontcourt rotation that makes Foster the "Break in case of emergency / 4th rotational Big Man" type of backup Center.....while having a more reliable and healthy Big Man that can consistently play 15 minutes per game. As many have pointed out....why the FO doesn't recognize this is beyond me....especially when it is obvious that Pendegraph has pre-existing injuries concerns that has already affected his ability to play.

    [/RANT]
