Duh. Joakim Noah is his only competition and he isn't doing that great this year. Roy is almost averaging a double-double and he is on a winning team just like Noah.
As a backup I guess, to Howard.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.
I would think the backup spot is currently a race between Roy Hibbert and Greg Monroe. I know the Pistons' record is crap right now, but if they can put together some wins, I wouldn't be shocked if Monroe got the nod. I mean, he had a game of 32 pts / 16 rebs with 2 steals, 2 assists and a block. Roy has been consistently solid, which is absolutely wonderful, but he really hasn't had those All-Star type performances that pop out at you. Monroe might get the MIP award as a consolation prize if he keeps it up.
Depends how good our record is
If he doesn't have a serious drop off before then, I think it would be a crime if he doesn't make the team!
Rise up Pacer Nation!!!
I hope so, but I don't think they will give it to him. He sure deserves to be considered.
If the Pacers are still sporting a great record than yes he will make the backup center spot. The Pistons are too bad for monroe to make it, and Bogut has been injured and the buck are underachieving, Noah has been garbage this year.
Sounds terrible, but I hope not. Just this year.
"All-star" descriptor raises his price tag considerably.
Too early to tell. Last season he started great too and faded after a while.
But anyway my guess is that he won't. He's putting up good numbers so far and we're winning but to be an all-star you need to be unusually good (like Granger in his all-star year) or to be in a fancy team (like Chicago, LA, Miami, etc). He doesn't really qualify...
If Roy played in Chicago, I would say yes. As it stands, Noah will be ahead of him.
I voted no. The allstar game is for awesome players like Howard and scrubs who play i huge markets, like Joel Anthony. Does he deserve it? Hell yes! Will he get voted in? I doubt it.
I want 73 wins! We're coming for YOU, 95-96 Bulls!

Someone should explain to me why Joel Anthony is part of this discussion, since he has a %0.0000 chance of ever going to an all-star game.
So far he deserves it.
you have a solid top 9 right now in:
That leaves three spots in reserve: One center, one forward and one wild card.
Fighting for those spots, you have:
I think either Tyson Chandler or Joakim Noah gets in.
He probably won't make it, but he definitely should be.
Unless Detroit is above .500 by the time the coaches place their votes, there's no chance he's making the team.
I'd agree that his production isn't quite good enough to overcome the poor record at this point, but it's not that far away.
Among NBA centers, Monroe is currently top-10 in points, rebounds, %FG, %FT, double-doubles and steals, and he leads all centers in assists.
I'd argue those are all-star worthy numbers, but as I said earlier, Monroe needs a triple-double or two to get some buzz going. He's kind of out of sight right now.

He deserves this more so than any C in the league this year. JMHO.
could be voted in by the coaches
