So how much is 270lbs of gold worth these days?
    Gold's around $1,700 per-ounce, so 270 lb. worth would be about $7.3M.

That'd be a bargain for Roy. He's worth more than his weight in gold.

Roy is getting more than 10 million a year plan and simple.. IF Marc Gasol got 4 years 57 million then Roys getting atleast 12 million a year and that number is going up if he plays this way all year.

I would think that Gasol is still considered a better center than Roy at the moment, but yeah I could see Roy's salary starting around 12mil and go up from there.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Not if he keeps it up. Roy is putting up better raw stats on a better team in 8 less minutes per game. Roy needs to prove he can do it all year though.

Yep that's is the 10million dollars question, can he do it all year? I'm going to say yes but we have to see it to believe it.

I want Roy's contract extended. However, he faded awfully quick last year. I'm sure Bird wants to see if the same will happen this year.

I'm thinking Roy will be much more consistent this year with the added weight.

depends. if the $13M is for 66 games it's about 27 and a half. if it for 82 games, it's about 22.

I really think that Area 55 should start voting for hibbert on a daily basis to try and get him in over howard to the all-star game. I'm going to vote for hibbert until I can't vote anymore.

Dude I saw this morning where Arn Tellem is trying to get Danilo Gallinari 5 years 67 million, I'm assuming that the Nuggets (& anyone else will laugh at that). But my God if they think he is worth that, then what the hell is the max because that is what Roy will be getting.
I thought that Marc Gasol's max contract would be way worse....but it turned out to be $13 mil a year. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

What is the MAX for a Player like Roy?

Well if Roy keeps playing like this, then that is what he will get.

the exact same his max which is $13,603,750 25% of the cap witth annual increases

He cant get 30% of the cap until he plays for 7 years then the max starts at $16,324,500 with annual increases.

and at 10 years it moves to 35% at 19m with annual increases

I dont get why the NBA does that I would think they would let the max be bigger for younger guys who are in there prime still. For example Duncan and KG are making more than Lebron and Kevin Durant and Rose when Duncan and KG are clearly past their primes. Just one of my pet peeves with how the NBA has it set up. After 10 years the max should be less at 5-7 it should be more IMO.

    ok, i'm confused.

25% of 58.8 is $14.7M. is next year's salary cap lower?

I took my numbers from the 2010-2011 season. Larry Coon didn't update his model I didnt think the number changed much but I guess it did. Sorry for the mis info. It is 25% of the cap so your number would be correct.

As long as he plays like he has this year....compared to how he played last year ( thx JO'B for ruining his confidence )....then I'm okay with $13+ mil a year + yearly raises for 6 years.

Seriously? that's awfully odd for him being a celtics homer for him trying to think of ways to improve the Lakers.

As long as Bynum is healthy, he's the second best center in the NBA.
