Atlanta plays their starters a lot. All of their starters played at least 37 minutes in their win at New Jersey on Monday. If Hill and Hans are healthy and feeling it, we should have an advantage on the bench.

Our record against Atlanta the last few seasons is remarkably bad. I'd have to look it up, but this team seems to have our number.

I can't remember, but didn't we get a win later in the season last year against them? After the coaching change?

We beat them the last time we played them sometime in April.

But Josh Smith didn't play. I don't remember why. He may have been injured or it could have been rest because the last few games didn't matter.

Prior to that, we'd won 1 of the previous 10 against them.

I am wondering how we will match up with Josh Smith. He has killed us with his athleticism. And defensively, we have never made him pay for being a more athletic PF. We need to attack Smith in the post, IMO. Where is McRoberts when you need his athleticism? Now that we are playing a much different style of basketball, I think we will matchup well with them. I think our bench is WAYYYYYYY better than theirs. We need to take advantage of wearing down their starters. Forcing them to play their role players more. I think Hibbert is the key to this game. If he can get going on the offensive end early on Horford, hopefully he can get Horford into foul trouble. I think we will see a ton of Hansborough and West together tonight. I hope we get one of either Granger or Hill for tonight. That would make a tremendous difference for us. Attack them up front early and often. Keep the pace of the game up by mixing in our depth. They don't run as much without Crawford, but they are still dangerous in transition so our transition defense will have to be great tonight. If they leak we have to be able to stop them from getting into transition. We need to run on them and prevent them from being effective in transition. I worry about this because of the turnovers we will have if Granger and Hill are both out.
"Your course, your path, is not going to be like mine," West says. "Everybody is not called to be a multimillionaire. Everybody's not called to be the president. Whatever your best work is, you do it. Do it well. … You cease your own greatness when you aspire to be someone else."

Smith has always killed us. I think Granger is probably our best match-up for him defensively, but we've tried that before with miserable results.

If Granger is out again, I'd say our best match-up for him is Tanya Harding.

    You mean Jeff Gilooly.

To be fair we had Posey on Jsmith in a lot of those games and before that Murphy.

The Hawks had won three in a row at Indiana.

Danny Granger, who led the Pacers with 28 points the last time Atlanta was in town, is scoring 26.2 per game and shooting 53.2 percent in his last six home contests against the Hawks.

Seems like Danny has torched them as well : D

I think the best person to guard Smith is Paul George. If PG can pressure Smith in taking perimeter shots, it will be an advantage for the Pacers since his main weakness is poor shot selection (although he has improved on that last year). If DG can play, he can guard JJ.

On offense, the Pacers should attack their main frontcourt into foul trouble since their bench is not that strong in that area. Hopefully all the injured guys can play to match up with their starters.

No way.. Josh Smith if he brings his A game will eat Paul alive. Just too strong for him. Not to mention he's faster with the weight he lost. Paul's defense has been bad these last few games. He seems to be focusing on the offensive end too much and not letting the game come to him. I would like to see what Rotation will the Hawks use these evening. Seems like Paul's twitter account is getting the best of him. With all these guys calling him
BEAST-Future ALL PRO-Best player on the team. Seems like Paul wants to take daddy's car for a spin before he turns 16.

The person who scares me the most is Jeff Teague. Dude could ball and is fierce at attacking the rim and dishing it out(we struggle bad vs that-celtics game comes to mind). Been seeing a lot of that him. He's a All star in the making. Got great handles and has a nice shot.

What the heck does a bad 70s era Sylvester Stallone look-a-like have to do with the Atlanta Hawks?

EDIT: Guess I wasn't the first to make that joke:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaza_Pachulia
An on-court altercation between the relatively obscure Pachulia and Celtics star Kevin Garnett led one writer to dub Pachulia "Balboa" after the lead character from the Rocky series of movies.[3] Pachulia officially re-signed with the Hawks on July 13, 2009, agreeing to a multi-year contract.[4]

I love going to Hawks games.

Sure, they usually pound us but we get to marvel in person at the enormous size of Zaza's noggin. Such a treat. Television and pictures do not do it justice. It's like an orange on a toothpick. It gets me every time.
