So, another laptop has decided to give me a hard time, this time a Gateway.
When I turn it on, it tries to run but never boots. I can hear the fan kick on for about 5 seconds then turn off, which leads me to believe that it could be the heatsink. The screen stays blank the entire time. I swapped out the hard drive, the battery, and the RAM, but none of those seem to be the primary issue (though the HDD boots up in my "test" laptop, but stops and restarts when attempting to load Windows, so that may be another issue as well).
My only thought at this point is the heatsink or, God forbid, the motherboard. I have also heard that some laptops have a connecter that leads to the monitor that can become disconnected, but I can't seem to find it on mine.
