Ah, its much more complex than I could have imagined. Leaves room for the old "bent corner envelope" trick

I think there's a thread for nominations, and then subsequent threads for each award where there's a voting between those nominated.

No, its alluding to the draft lottery where the Pacers got screwed by the Knicks and their "bent corner" envelope.......it was a reach I know.

Not your fault, but PD might not be properly educating newcomers in regards to some classic PD moments.

Since this is awards-related, I'll bring back a little treasured piece of PD's history. The first five pages of this thread will make you question your desire to continue living and will seem like, if not the biggest waste of time and energy, somewhere awfully close. Once you reach post #133, however, I think you'll feel adequately rewarded.

Don't you think the people who stuck around during the lockout deserve awards probably moreso in order to keep the traffic up?

    To answer some questions:

The PD Forum Awards have been handed out to the most distinguished members of the Pacers Digest community since 2004 - posters who have inspired us to believe, made us laugh, educated us on the game, and helped us cope with setbacks. Also, JayRedd and atc have won.

Did we ever do a most improved poster? I thought pacer4ever nailed that by the summer.
In the first two years of the awards, able (2004) and Harmonica (2005) were voted to be Most Improved Poster. The award hasn't been presented since.

All registered members of the forum are responsible for choosing our nominees. This may be done through public acclamation or through private message to the organizers. The list of the nominees are then subject to another forum-wide vote to determine the winner. (In other words, cdash's summary is correct.) Nominating or voting for one's self is not encouraged, but campaigning for one's self is certainly part of the fun - at least in my personal opinion.

Here's a question: what's the difference between a darksider and a troll. Do some posters regard themselves as darksiders? Or do they simply look at many of us as hopeless homers?
The Oxford English Dictionary defines a troll as one who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument. No, wait, that's the Urban Dictionary's definition. Either way, I believe it makes the point I'm after. The Darksider of the Year award used to be called the Pessimistic Poster of the Year. A darksider is someone perceived to be pessimistic by the majority of other posters, though he or she may believe their view is instead realistic in terms of their expectations for the season. A darksider this year may continually beat the drum about this team missing the playoffs. If we do miss the playoffs, he or she will be proven right, but they will probably be considered a darksider in the meantime.

Of course, the categories will be further defined if there is enough support for the Forum Awards to be held. Thanks for your interest and participation!

Here's a quick history of the awards. Three-time winners in gold.

This table only includes awards that have been presented at least four times (in PD's seven year history of awards). Please advise on errors of all types, and excuse the shoddiness of my MS Paint skills.

I nominate myself for the "Irrelevant Poster Who's Been Here Forever And Never Once Won An Award" Award.
There are two types of quarterbacks in the league: Those whom over time, the league figures out ... and those who figure out the league.

I didn't forget it. I was going to announce it last minute in order to allow you more time to grump it up without the pressure of an awards race. Plus, look how grumpy you are that I left it out. Mission accomplished I would say.

Also, I'm leaning towards reducing the amount of awards.

Anyone find it interesting that Seth has won Best Debater (most argumentative) since he came on board.
