So the Hornets just got Xavier Henry for basically nothing. I'd have gladly given up a 2nd for either of those guys. Hornets are also taking on salary. Let's see what Cuban has to say.

I agree really the grizzlies won this and lost this trade I mean Xavier is a good young player just never saw the court to prove.

I wanted Speights, but under the circumstances a great opportunity for Speights and Henry.

I think May to Indy has been dead in the water for a while. I also think there are other plans Bird is looking at if the team starts to struggle. We're not playing poorly, we just need a pass-first point who can see the floor best.

Wondering if EJ's injury might be worse than being reported.

Grizz need a big man since Zebo has a knee problem (tear). Out for a month or more.

The Hornets have made better moves in the short time Stern has been at the helm than the whole year Demps was in charge.

Maybe I'm a poor sport, but I like playing a team short handed. Ps play at Memphis February 10th.

I still like to mix orange juice and mayo together. It tastes good as a spread and I only did it because I thought OJ Mayo was coming to the Pacers.

na he is fine just resting. When you can get a 20 year old good defender with potential on offense. Who was a lottery pick in the draft for a 2nd rd pick you do it great move NOLA. He will get PT and may develop into a good player. Low risk high reward good move.

    EDIT Eric is playing tonight

Xavier is just so one dimensional on offense he has no right hand and that really hinders him. If he could find a right hand he would become a much better player. He also didnt shoot the ball like I though he would. He can shoot from distance but he didn't show that last year.

But those flaws are correctable and is worth the gamble. If Larry feels Lance was worth the gamble of a 2nd rd pick. Xavier with less flaws is certainly worth it.

Only Thomas and Anderson (total 650k) is not on the roster and Quincy makes the same salary as Vasquez.

The N means non guaranteed they have a few Dleaguers they will likely just cut. Trust me they have agreed to the deal that means everything has checked out.
Yes, they can cut them now, but the salary cap deadline is over. They cut now the salary still goes on the cap.

    Business reasons i'm sure!

It looked to me like they should be over the cap too. Maybe they had a trade exception.

The 76ers sent Speights to Memphis, the Grizzlies moved Henry to New Orleans and the Grizzlies and Hornets each sent a second-round draft pick to Philadelphia.

Sounds like the deal hit a snag:

    Speights trade in limbo?
    January 6, 2012, 3:37 pm
    by John Finger

Could Marreese Speights be sent back to the 76ers?

According to reports from Salt Lake City, the recently traded Sixers’ big man will be held out of the lineup with his new team, Memphis, because of a potential injury to Xavier Henry.

A quick recap: Memphis traded Henry to New Orleans and the Sixers sent Speights to Memphis while the Sixers received a second-round draft pick from each team. However, Henry has not been cleared to play for the Hornets because of reported concerns over a knee injury that sidelined the player for much of last season.

Henry had been practicing with Memphis this season until a sprained ankle sidelined him, according to reports.

Speights won’t be able to play for Memphis until Henry is cleared. In the meantime, that was enough to keep Speights out of the shootaround before Memphis’ game in Utah on Friday morning. If Henry is cleared by New Orleans before game time on Friday night, Speights will be available.

If Henry is not cleared, however, Speights could be sent back to Philadelphia. Chances are slim that it could go down like that, but it is a possibility.

In the meantime, with Zack Randolph out with an injury for two months, the Grizzlies badly need Speights in the front court. Speights too has been waiting to get on the court after sitting on the bench in all four games with the Sixers this season.

For now, he'll continue to sit... and wait.

I read Philly also got about a 2.5 mil TE. That makes the deal more reasonable for Philly.

IF the deal doesn't go thru, then Bird knows what it takes to get Speights.

Trade must have gone through because Speights played tonight for Memphis.
