ok maybe a better choice of words would have been condesending

I guess we will agree to disagree

I think by NBA standrds of raw athleticism that Bird and Ty never fit this category

If you think or anyone else thinks differently, no problem
The problem that I have is that you are not defining athleticism.

Here is a question, is Tyler more or less athletic than Sheldon Williams? How about Kris Humphries?

Right, and I think it's a subjective word.

Someone mentioned "hand/eye coordination." I don't consider that an athletic trait intuitively. I consider it a needed trait for basketball, but that's different.

Well when I think of atheltic in terms of NBA basketball

I think of guys that can jump out of the gym, that can make extraordinary plays on sheer athleticism alone that not many can, guys that play above the rim

So I will ask you this question: By NBA standards do you think Tyler is athletic or does he get his points usually off of either brute force or crazy below the rim shots?

Whats the need for such hostility?

I mean really its just an opinion, that I hold but whatever
It may read that way to you, but it's really not hostile.

Perception of hostility aside, don't those videos make at least a little bit of a point?

Are you just trying to bash me or what?

I never said Bird and Tyler had the same skill sets, they clearly dont

what I did say is that Bird, I believe saw the same competitive desire and a strong willingness to prove people wrong. I think both players rely on different things other than pure raw athletic ability

Bird was a very savy and smart player, while Ty is a very strong and determined player

Both I think exceeded initial expectations. Both kind of had the lunch pail no nonsense give 120% attitude which I love
Fair enough; it looks like I jumped the gun on this one. It just read very similarly to a lot of posts I used to read in '09 that took this further and the usual line was "Bird saw himself in Tyler" in a way that suggested they played similarly, and that got irritating after a while, so I guess I'm just primed to snap at it when I see it nowadays. Sorry about that.
