Kings organization is a disaster area.
Yup. Maybe KJ should coach the team.

I'm happy for Westphal. He didn't have to quit and hence will still get paid. Feel really bad for Keith Smart, though. Good luck to him, he's gonna need it.

How'd you like to try to enforce things now as a coach in Sacremento?

Regarding @wojyahoonba report that Keith Smart was given 2-yr guaranteed deal, Maloof was not aware but said Petrie given green light there.

Maloofs were upset that he disclosed in-house matters. It clearly played a part here. Westphal indicated that Petrie had spoken to Maloofs.

Kings co-owner Joe Maloof tells SI that ownership had no knowledge that Paul Westphal would be making public statement about D. Cousins.

The more I think about it, I believe Westphal knew exactly what he was doing. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if management was undercutting him with Cousins, so he put this out there to force the issue. Either management would back him, or they'd pay him to go away, and he wouldn't have to deal with the looney bin anymore.

    According to Marc Stein

    http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/p...e-phoenix-suns

Of the eight teams ESPN.com has confirmed as registering interest in trading for Sacramento's DeMarcus Cousins in the past week, in the wake of Cousins' recent one-game suspension, five of them hail from the East.

According to sources close to the situation, they are: Boston, Detroit, Indiana, New Jersey and Washington. (Portland, Houston and Utah are the others.) The Wizards might rank as the most surprising team on that list, given their longstanding non-interest in Cousins and the number of hard-to-harness youngsters already playing in the nation's capital, but perhaps the Wiz couldn't resist exploring the possibility of reuniting John Wall with his college teammate.
    Whoa.

Pretty sure he wants to be traded. It's not like Westphal made it up.

For the Kings to win long-term, either Evans or Cousins need to go. They cannot play together, and they are both too high-maintenance to keep at the same time.

I think the Kings plan to keep Cousins, regardless of his wishes.

But it sure is strange to see Indiana on the list of suitors. Ditto Washington and Utah. Don't they have enough headcases already in Washington? And Utah already has a young talented frontline.

We probably looked into it to see if we could get him for nothing. Hoping they were wanting to cut bait and move on.

If not, then I'll be shocked, but I'm pretty sure that would be the case.

@ @MikeWellsNBA @IamaGM said that #Pacers are 1 of 8 teams interested in DeMarcus Cousins. I cant see that happening. Wat u think?

If we trade for Cousins, Larry obviously learned nothing from the Artest saga. Stephenson, I can understand, but Cousins? Hopefully our interest culminated in Morway calling and offering Jones and a second round pick and the Kings hanging up.

I actually can see it happening...They have no SF's and have to many SG's. They could use a guy like Granger and we can use a guy like Cousins and Thornton. Get this trade done Larry!

Actually, I think we just called to offer our services as a third team. No way Larry's stupid enough to want that guy.

I think he really would go after him. It is a track record for Larry to give guys a chance and to help guide them in the right direction. Just look at who has been and is on our roster. This would be nothing new.

If you go back to Larry's young adult hood he had his share of problems and people gave him a 2nd chance as well. I just think it's in Larry's make up to do such a thing. Not a bad quality to have if you ask me.

If the team existed in a vacuum I'd agree with you. But akin to what Peck and I recently discussed with Stephen Jackson, his attitude would go over like a lead balloon with our fan base.

I had never heard the Pacers attached to him until this. Has anyone else seen any indications we might be interested? To me, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to bring in a headcase like him when Hibbert is playing so well. But you have to at least see what it would take to get him. He certainly has a ceiling of a top 3 center in the league.

Edit: Sorry I didn't read this whole thread. I wonder where the notion that we are interested came from.

I'm not sure that I showed worry in my post. Do you have any facts to back that up, or are you just saying what you feel is right? If I was Sacramento I would at least see what a C with top 3 potential could get me. If they could trade him for a lottery pick in the upcoming draft and decent player, why would they not entertain that? That would give them possibly 2 lottery picks in a pretty good draft and unload a MAJOR head case.
